The Elusive Naja

Such a wonderful gift to receive from a friend! It’s very cool & unique. Nice turquoise cab - I like that it moves freely. This rustic looking naja would look fabulous on a thick leather cord, too.

Thanks! That’s a good idea. I have a thin leather cord, but I’ll have to see if I can find a thicker one.

Here’s my antique naja - a little funky but I love it! Unknown silversmith.

I’ve been admiring this particular necklace for quite some time. While the casting pattern of the double naja isn’t incredibly unique, it has always been one of my favorite designs. The Mercury dime beads are strung on leather that is cotton wrapped, making for a very comfortable piece.

Navajo, ca. 1925, 36" long/18" drop, 2 7/16" x 2 1/4" naja, 270 grams

That’s what drew me to it! Thank you @Ziacat and @here4turquoise.

 Thanks @chicfarmer, the coin beads give it a substantial weight, something I’m fond of. :+1:

A stunning necklace and stunning photography, Aaron! Man, I love everything about this piece. You should check around the house to see if you have any belts to go with it. :+1:

Thank you, Tom!

I would like to mention that @TAH shared with me a photo containing this necklace modeled by Taylor André, of Tiwa-Taos Pueblo ancestry. She’s donning a stunning ca. 1860-1870 Rio Grande serape.
