Such a wonderful gift to receive from a friend! It’s very cool & unique. Nice turquoise cab - I like that it moves freely. This rustic looking naja would look fabulous on a thick leather cord, too.
Thanks! That’s a good idea. I have a thin leather cord, but I’ll have to see if I can find a thicker one.
That’s so cool!!

A superb addition to anyone’s desk. Thanks for sharing, Joe.
I’ve been admiring this particular necklace for quite some time. While the casting pattern of the double naja isn’t incredibly unique, it has always been one of my favorite designs. The Mercury dime beads are strung on leather that is cotton wrapped, making for a very comfortable piece.
Navajo, ca. 1925, 36" long/18" drop, 2 7/16" x 2 1/4" naja, 270 grams
Absolutely love this. Love the simplicity.
I agree with @Ziacat
Those beads!! This is a stunning naja necklace and of quality that’s hard to find.
That’s what drew me to it! Thank you @Ziacat and @here4turquoise.
Thanks @chicfarmer, the coin beads give it a substantial weight, something I’m fond of.
A stunning necklace and stunning photography, Aaron! Man, I love everything about this piece. You should check around the house to see if you have any belts to go with it.
Thank you, Tom!
I would like to mention that @TAH shared with me a photo containing this necklace modeled by Taylor André, of Tiwa-Taos Pueblo ancestry. She’s donning a stunning ca. 1860-1870 Rio Grande serape.
Photo taken by Don Siegel of Chipeta Trading Co.
Love it. Twenty characters
I have a new to me naja. It’s represented a 1940s coin silver and unmarked.
When I return to Virginia, I will get my najas to getter for a group photo. Until then here’s the latest.
As always any and all comments and feedback are welcome.
Awesome naja @here4turquoise! It’s got an lovely patina and it looks like there’s a decent amount of wear in some spots. Beautiful piece, thank you for sharing and I’m looking forward to seeing it among your naja group shot!
Thank you @Ravenscry. The rest of the bunch are contemporary but I love them all equally.
Do you have a strand or necklace you plan on pairing it with or is that still in the works?
Robert Johnson is making a bail for another naja and I feel it will work for this one too. I am also on the lookout for a thin leather piece for it. Let me know if you have other suggestions.
Edit: I have some sinew I purchased in Cherokee NC that I may try. If I haven’t given it away.
Very cool, I deeply appreciate his work.
I think of najas as I do black clothing, they’ll look great with anything! Whether it be leather, cordage, or chain, personally, I really like them with strands of silver beads, but that’s the tradition talking. I like your idea of leather, that would be a beautiful look!
