Well, nearly a year after trying it on in Bluff, UT I purchased the Harrison Jim cuff. I had thought it was possible we would travel back up there this spring, but it just didn’t work out, and since the Eiteljorg Market is end of June and we won’t travel out west till late summer, I decided to go ahead and buy it online. I absolutely love it, and I can see once again why I had such a hard time deciding. The owner of Twin Rocks was wonderful to work with, and even held it back for me a few weeks till I made my final decision. I cannot emphasize enough how wonderful they are, and if any of you are out there, most definitely stop. Along with having beautiful art, it’s in a gorgeous spot, and has a great restaurant
For those of you that are curious about rocks, it is sitting on a piece of float copper from the UP - copper that “floated” in the glaciers until it finally dropped.
One of the things I didn’t notice when I looked at it the first time, were the teeny tiny stamps along the base of all the prongs. I also like how the ends of each prong (not sure what else to call them) are very polished.
I’m kind of surprised how well I like it, because it’s a little edgier than my normal taste, but it just drew me in. I was thinking I might buy something older from the Medicine Man Gallery site, but I couldn’t get this one out of my mind. If I had it to do over, I still would have bought the Derrick Gordon cuff first, but I’m beyond happy that they still had this one in the store.
Thank you! I couldn’t stop thinking about it all year Much of his work is more traditional, but then he does a number of these slightly edgy tufa cast cuffs.
@Ziacat Wow, that’s a magnificent cuff! Bold and innovative with an exceptional turquoise cab. It fits perfectly on your wrist. Another story about jewelry waiting a year for its rightful owner to claim it .
@Patina, it is a bold piece; not one that I will stack with anything since it works perfectly on its own. And I think I had discussed with you on a previous thread that I was worried it would bang into the back of my hand and bother me. I wore it most of the day yesterday with no issues, so I think all good there!
@Phoenix7 already it’s definitely one of my favorites. I can’t believe it was still there. I had called the owner just to see if I would be able to order it over the phone when I was ready, and I almost didn’t take him up on the offer to lay it back, but I’m glad I did.
@here4turquoise, it really was! I know the store is in a bit of an out of the way place, but I think they get a fair amount of traffic in the summer. Maybe it was just a little too different for most people.
Congrats @Ziacat on a killer cuff! This one is precisely where it belongs, and I’m glad you were able to make it yours. It looks hefty, the stone is beautiful, and the bezel is awesome. This is one knockout piece of cast loveliness!
Everyone here seems to have an uncanny ability to project influence that lightens the pocketbook.
I second Zia on this, Chic. 2026 could be the year that we have an unofficial Turquoise People gathering the Eiteljorg.
This cuff rocks! It looks great on you, so happy its finally home. It is not only gorgeous, but the form is unusual; certainly nothing you see every day! I’ll second the opinion on Twin Rocks…wonderful little shop with quality jewelry and exceptional Navajo baskets. And…the location is jaw dropping!
Congrats again Zia
@StevesTrail! I’m so glad they still had it. And they didn’t raise the price
@Ravenscry, I think I appreciate it even more because I thought about it for so long. And we all are really good at helping each other invest our money, aren’t we?
@TAH, I have no idea what it weighs, because I have no scale. It has a nice heft to it, but it’s not super heavy.
@Bmpdvm, you can take some credit for it since our discussion about Bluff and Twin Rocks last year is partially what got me back out there!
Thanks @Stracci, and you are correct, I did bring this piece up last year when I was looking for reassurance that I hadn’t bought the wrong cuff
Now for quite a while I think I need to focus on rings and/or necklaces when I shop (although shopping also needs to be on hold for a bit ). I need to repeat after myself…
