Ok ok, might not be beautiful to you but i am absolutely blown away by the color of these stones. Absolutely beautiful, never ceases to amaze me what God has made in the dirt we walk on!
Soooo what kind of Turquoise is this? I paid $20 for it and probably would of paid more since i love it so much. Ok i asked what you think and i can take it lets here it! Wait let me get the kleenex first just in case…Lol
Chinese maybe? Just a guess.
My grandmother’s cuff has very similar coloring - she bought it in the Southwest late 50’s/early 60’s. One of the few pieces that wasn’t stolen when their house was broken into. I like it because it’s a little unusual.
That does look similar. So I don’t know when Chinese turquoise was introduced here, after the 50’s/60’s? Do you know where your stones are from?
What a bummer to have your house broken into! If is a really cool cuff.
I’ve no clue where she purchased it. Our grandparent’s were big rock hounds, and would stay in Arizona and New Mexico for a couple of months each winter (we get our love of jewelry pretty honestly - my grandmother had enough jewelry to hand quite a bit down to 6 granddaughters even after getting a lot stolen, unfortunately the thieves took the squash blossoms and the “big” turquoise pieces).
You must surely treasure it! I inherited a number of lovely pieces from my parents, and they mean a lot to me. I feel like like I have a little piece of them with me when I wear the jewelry. Just one item from my dad, but quite a few things from my mom. Fortunately for me, I am the only one of 3 who has any interest in Native art. They were very gracious and let me have all of it when mom passed. Even the really awesome large Zia pot!
I got the Turquoise from a lady who’s Mom passed away. She was a beader like me so her daughter said she would look for more. Chinese Turquoise seems to be as diverse as American Turquoise. I will see what i can find out but that zinformation is probably lost to me now.
@Meandmy6 those will make some great pieces of jewelry! I’d guess Chinese stones also. I have a Chinese piece that is that brown/green color combo.
Im almost done with the necklace but need beads for the bracelet. I saved the big blue stone to do something else with. Did you see the the liquid silver necklace with the Sleeping Beauty beads. Since its a beautiful piece i think i will just make some earrings out of the loose Sleeping Beauty beads for a set. Wish i knew what the greenish blue on bottom row of necklace is. Have to wait for the Turquoise peeps analysis. Lol.
