I inherited this lovely Duane Maktima hummingbird pin from my mom that I use as a pendant (I never wear pins). It has no bail, so I run a leather cord through the bar. Unfortunately the clasp is loose, so for fear of losing it, I practically never wear it. I tried to squeeze the clasp with a pliers to no avail, so I resorted to (gasp) super-gluing it shut. I don’t want to have a bail added, because I really like the way it hangs on the cord.
It’s not taboo to do this, as the glue can be removed later, if necessary. (with acetone)
It’s your pin, and you can do what you want with it!
A very wise man once told me “it’s mine and I can f* it up if I want to!”
Words to live by.
Yes, looks like the little guy is hovering below some kind of hanging flower. I think if it was on a bail in the same spot it would slide around a bit, and hang more horizontal.
Looks great! As long as it’s stable, what you did works. I am the same; never wear pins so I usually convert them or rig them to work as pendants. I have a great parrot pin that I also like to wear balanced on a silver chain attached by the pin apparatus; I smashed the top of the pin back to grip the thick chain I use so it doesn’t flip forward. Have also used a small jump ring or one of those vertically facing pin converters to hold them in place. The converters come in all directions.
