2026!

Thank you! That’s one of the things that drew me to it. I love trees. I’m a bit of a northern girl at heart, so I could use more pines and birch trees though :laughing:

More snow. Yay. Yes, my enthusiasm is waning. Our snow blower is broken.

Beautiful @Ziacat

Here is SW VA we have had snow on the ground for three weeks! We are forecasted for more today and Wednesday. I cannot remember the last time we had snow this long.

We’ve had it on the ground here for quite a while too, which is unusual for lately. The last time I feel like we had snow on the ground this long was our record breaking winter of 2014. That was a wicked season for us. But actually I prefer seeing the snow rather than dead grass and everything brown, but I am glad our bitter cold has broken. It feels downright balmy at 28° :laughing:

Is that your new doggo in the second pic? And I love your woods behind the barn.

We finally hit 32° last Tuesday. It’s is snowing at the moment. I love snow except when it is frigid and/or the wind is blowing sideways.

The doggo, is Marley. She is 8 months now and a ball of energy. The woods behind the barn is partially ours and partially the Blue Ridge Parkway. We were so fortunate to find this place 35 years ago. We have white pine, oak and Hickory trees back there.

Here is my backyard. When we first bought the property, the entire woods were full of buckthorn. I spent years cutting down and digging out those invasive trees. Then I planted small maple trees and evergreens. All the Ash trees have died due to Ash Borer and we have standing dry wood to cut down for our fireplace…or wait until they fall down by themselves.

I’d include a picture of our back yard, but compared to the glorious snow on the ground and trees, ours is parched brown-ugh. I’ll save my pictures for a couple months when the foliage is blooming along the Carson River. We need just a bit of your snow…Yesterday I drove over the Sierra Nevada mountains, through Lake Tahoe, to California; the minimal snow was sad (but it was an easy fast drive). Thanks for showing all the wonderful pictures

And…@here4turquoise, I love your barn…so picturesque!

I mean, it could be worse. Here’s some recent pictures of the Mackinac Bridge that my brother-in-law has to take every time he comes home; fine in good weather but not so much in winter…

From a couple months ago this would be my nightmare scenario…

I have only been on this bridge in good weather, so I didn’t take any of these pictures :laughing:

@Bmpdvm as beautiful as this snow is, I’m ready to see some spring foliage.

And while I’m thinking about weather, here would be my emojis for monthly snow.

December :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes::tada:
January :grin:
February :thinking:
March :enraged_face:
April :cross_mark::stop_sign:

OMG…that bridge! These show the down side of that “beautiful” snow. I’ve driven once in blowing snow with intermittent whiteout…but icy roads are my biggest fear.

Yes, icy roads are awful. Add blowing snow to that and it’s a double nightmare.

It’s actually an awesome bridge to drive in nice weather.

Thank you @Bmpdvm This is a run in for the horses to stay out of the weather. Scott fashioned it after a western store front.

Here it is in winter 2018 during the magic light.

Thank you @chicfarmer We thought about it but couldn’t decide what to put up there.

Thank you @Bmpdvm. At one time we had five horses. Each one had their own feed station. We are now down to two and it’s a run in.
