Thank you so much! I was also concerned about the one west of Ft Wayne because my sister-in-law lives over that way. But they said they think it’s lifted. Back in 2014 one hit my sister’s house and ripped the garage off the front and twisted their house on the foundation. The neighbors lost the top half of their house so she gets pretty anxious.
Thanks! The tornado warning was cancelled west of us a bit ago, and now we are just under a severe thunderstorm warning. It’s weakening, but I’m not going to bed till it’s done.
Glad all is well for now! Being from the deep south, I feel ya- we grew up in Tuscaloosa and saw it devastated live on TV stay safe, it is going to be a long storm season.
I hope you were able to sleep last night! Happy to hear you all are in the clear.
Last spring when heading to the four corners, we were under a tornado warning near Amarillo TX. We were in our truck and travel trailer in a campground and didn’t know what to do! The other campers stayed so we did too. It was a sleepless night for sure. All was well in the morning.
Thanks for your concern; everybody on here is so kind. I didn’t sleep well, but it had nothing to do with the weather since it had calmed down. I think I was just wound up.
I cannot imagine how frightened you would have been! I would have been freaking out. So glad you stayed safe. I’ve only seen funnel clouds one time in my life - up near Detroit. They were small and not all the way down, but it was creepy. A few years ago I heard one late at night go over, but it didn’t touch down till a couple miles east of us. And of course I ran to the basement
My sister just texted me with pictures of my niece’s garage. It doesn’t look smashed, but a tree is lying partly on top of it, and unfortunately there’s a power pole and lines across so were told to stay in their house for now because they don’t know where all the downed lines are. I think it was straight line winds.
Straight line winds are frightening especially during darkness. We live in a rural area with a wooded back yard. It is terrifying to listen to trees popping and falling. We don’t know whether to put the horses in the barn or let them use the intuition. We used the later back in 2012.
My niece in Kokomo sent me this pic. A little hard to see, but clearly a tornado. Fortunately her garage isn’t too damaged and the car is fine, but the power lines are still down in their yard. This is the third tornado since '14 that has caused my sister’s house or her daughter’s property either major or minor damage. I told them they are tornado magnets
And here’s what’s creepy; the house my sister and family rented in 2014 while theirs was being fixed for tornado damage was completely destroyed by another one several years later (fortunately that tornado only caused minor shingle damage to my sister’s house that had been fixed).
thanks, Arthur is blessing us for sure! Drought the whole first part of the year. Most of the flooding has been to the south; the Gulfport, MS area got 10 inches yesterday morning! It could definitely have been worse where we are, thanks for reaching out
