I love this one! It is so beautiful!!
Roger Vernam
This artwork is from the children’s book, Antelope, A Navaho Indian Boy, 1935. A very good friend recently gave this book to our grandson as a gift. I just had to share. ![]()
Great find and gift!
This is beautiful, Tom; he seems incredibly focused and intent on his work. Works of art with the craft as the subject are my favorites.
It’s a lovely painting, thank you for sharing.
a slip with that drill won’t end well & give a whole new dimension to a war cry
I like the soft colors in these, Aaron, and I don’t think Tom Darro has ever been represented in this thread. Good find! ![]()
Here’s another first time artist for this thread.
Doug Hyde, Sunflowers, 2019
Doug Hyde has received numerous commissions for public and private works and was awarded the 2009 Best Sculpture Award by the Eiteljorg Museum. Since 2006, he has worked out of his studio in Prescott, Arizona.
That’s what drew me in, as well! His works are so subdued and simply beautiful. I really like his manipulation of light. ![]()
Wow, what a stunner, Tom! She looks like she’ll just step right off the base she’s on. It’s neat to know he took the Best Sculpture Award at the Eiteljorg! Fantastic find! ![]()
I can see why this romance started for this gentleman. That’s one beautiful horse. ![]()
Here’s a western artist i’d never heard of until Antiques Roadshow last night. Charles Bensco
While it may not be apparent, there’s definitely silver and turquoise within this beautiful painting.
G. (Gerald Harvey Jones) Harvey (1933-2017), Adobe Friendship
Wow, this one is really beautiful, Aaron. Thanks for posting it! I didn’t know G. Harvey ever painted a Navajo. I love the old belt buckle he’s wearing under his wool coat. ![]()
Billy Schenck
Distant Mesas
No jewelry in this next one, but dang, look at the lighting and shadows.
Four Sheep
Thanks for sharing Billy’s work, Tom. I love the silver in the first one, but Four Sheep looks like a photo! ![]()
Oh man, I love these!
You made me actually look for the buckle ![]()
