Turquoise Celebrities

My absolute favorite museum, large or small…can’t get enough of her collection. And, dang that gal knew how to stack!

If you haven’t already, I recommend reading her biography. She had quite the life. :slightly_smiling_face:

@TAH I have this book! We visited the Millicent Rogers Museum on our first trip to NM. What an amazing museum. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I wanted to learn more about Millicent so after we got back home I started my research. Ordered this book online - it’s a good read.

Yes, it is, @Patina - although a sad ending to a beautiful life. How wonderful it would have been to see the more rural New Mexico that she experienced.

After our visit to the museum, we paid our respects at her gravesite.

Here’s a photo of Tatanka Means at the 2024 Academy Awards. He’s wearing turquoise earrings, turquoise brooch, and a turquoise ring. Also wearing a large silver cuff on his wrist. (He’s the son of Oglala Lakota activist Russell Means, 11/10/39-10/22/12.)

He looks like his father.

Thanks @TAH, I have not read her biography. I’ve read several books on Mabel Dodge Luhan; years ago we typically stayed at the Mabel Dodge Luhan House in Taos for a-couple days after Santa Fe Market. So peaceful and quiet there…loved the experience.
I’m ordering the biography today!

Came across this photo of the late Queen Elizabeth, who wore this unusual diamonds-and-turquoise brooch during her first public address to the nation re:COVID in April 2020.

From the accompanying article: “Queen Elizabeth chose a turquoise and diamond brooch that belonged to her grandmother Queen Mary, a legendary jewelry collector, who loved to layer pieces of her prized collection for a look of total regal splendor (…) The turquoise brooch that Queen Elizabeth wore to deliver yesterday’s address was gifted to Mary in 1893, on the day of her wedding to the Duke of York, the future King George V, by her new in laws.“

P.S. You can see Queen Mary’s (matching?) diamonds-and-turquoises tiara further up this thread.

I love the queen! I’m not a huge royalty person, I just always thought she was classy, and I liked to listen to her Christmas message.

Someone may have posted Brule on here before, but I happened to be listening to one of their CDs tonight, so I checked for a pic with jewelry. We got to hear them live at the Eiteljorg Indian Art Market one year. If you haven’t listened to them, they are awesome. A friend of mine at Church works at a local really big music facility here that’s known nationally, Sweetwater Sound. I was talking about this group and he said, “Hey! They’re my clients!” Which is kind of cool.

Looks like a concho belt and some turquoise cuffs going on here. I was actually looking for a pic of Def Leppard members (was listening to Hysteria in the car) with some turquoise, but had no luck, so settled for this. Can’t help it, listened to quite a bit of big hair 80’s bands (nada with Van Halen either :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:) back in the day.
