Turquoise Interiors

While this forum and our community is centered on jewelry, for many of us, turquoise and silver adornment is simply one art form among many in a lifestyle.

From a young age I’ve enjoyed admiring how others embellish their homes. Some of my greatest memories are tied to my grandfather’s gunsmith shop, the stained glass studio of a member of my father’s band, and the homes of many other individuals who had no idea the influence they impressed upon me.

@TAH and I thought it would be enjoyable to have a thread where we can share and discuss the art of ornamenting the places we call home. Whether it be your own displays or those of someone you know, something you find tasteful in a magazine or online, or a photo from a great book, Native American and Western art is invariably a treat to enjoy; let this thread be a place where we can share it in situ.

A few days ago I shared some of these from a ranch in Texas: there are a couple here that I left out in that post.

I’m a huge fan of the Arts & Crafts, Mission, and Craftsman movements. These are from a book titled American Arts & Crafts from the Collection of Alexandra and Sidney Sheldon.

And here are some photos from a friend’s lodge.

I look forward to seeing what others share!!

What a beautiful storm pattern; it stands alone but blends so well with the rest of the decor! Thank you for sharing. :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks for kicking off this thread, Aaron, and with some superlative examples! It’s been a long time since I’ve seen the photos Millicent Rogers’ home. I forgot how beautiful it was.

Here’s one of my favorites - John Lorenzo Hubbell’s home at Hubbell Trading Post, Ganado. AZ. Gotta love the baskets on the ceiling. :+1:

This is beautiful, and no doubt packed with history. Displaying baskets on the ceiling is so awesome, especially between beams: I love the nod to the old trading posts. :star_struck::+1:

I’m a big Thomas Molesworth fan - Once I’ve won the lottery you’ll be able to tell when I decorate my ranch house.

Very cool, thank you for sharing @RedlandMaggie! There’s some beautiful pieces and lovely furniture in there. I love it!

Christopher Thomson is an artist who sculpts steel near Rowe Mesa, NM. I’ve been enamored with his work for years, ever since seeing a few of his “rattlesnake lamps” in my friends lodge.

This is more my style. It’s beautiful, and yet still looks like you could comfortably live there. We visited the site many years ago, but I am not sure if we went in the house or just the trading post.

Hmm… I keep saying I have no more room to hang things, but I haven’t actually tried the ceiling yet…
