@mmrogers
Yes, there are many ways to hurt yourself working with pointy tools and fire!
I feel fortunate that I haven’t burned the house down yet.
Here’s another ring I finished today.
I’ve had this piece of Kingman for over a year, and I finally got around to using it.
So here are a bunch of pictures.
Beautiful, I’m so impressed! And a really pretty stone too. Nothing wrong with Kingman turquoise; just because it’s more common doesn’t mean it’s not a wonderful American mined turquoise!
Thanks, @Ziacat !
I thought about all kinds of fancy designs, but kept coming back to this straightforward setting idea.
Kingman is good material to work with!
Very pretty, Stracci. Exceptionally clean work. Lovely ring!
@mmrogers Thanks Mike! I try really hard to be neat and precise.
No sloppy solder, that’s my mantra! Less is more.
@Stracci What an outstanding ring! I like everything about it. You have such a keen eye for turquoise stones, and meticulous craftsmanship. Thx for sharing this beauty.
That’s right @Stracci , rub it in
. Great, again. I am curious if the shank will be annoying since the center is not flush.
@StevesTrail Thanks Steve!!
The shank is comfortable. That bead wire is pretty low, and polishing brought it down even more.
I wore the setting for a while before I set the stone, in case it needed changing.
Thanks @Patina !
I appreciate the nice compliments!
Very nice work. Beautiful.
@KMAungst
Thank you!
Beautiful workmanship! Thanks for sharing.
Here’s a ring I made last weekend.
Husband chose this variscite stone at the last gem and mineral show we attended back in October.
I promised him a snake ring. So finally I got around to making it. It’s similar to the Ithaca Peak snake ring I showed a few months ago.
It is a bit rustic, per hubby’s wishes. I created a matte finish with steel wool, and beat on the shank to create a textured surface. He was the designer, I just made it happen!
Beautiful and a nice choice of stone. I love variscite almost as much as turquoise. Great silverwork as always
Thanks @markyboy57
Hubby picked out that stone, he didn’t even know about variscite at the time, he just liked the color and matrix.
I always try to be neat and clean. Easier said than done!
Very cool, Stracci! Love the rattler, and hammer work shank!
Thanks @mmrogers !
One of my fave tools is a small leatherworking hammer that belonged to husband’s grandfather.
The weight is just right for almost every application, including experimental beaten ring shanks!
