Victor Coochwytewa? Maybe!

Hey everyone! I just found this in a shop this morning! Wanted to get some of your opinions! Looks like it could possibly be by Victor Coochwytewa! Or it’s certainly possible that it’s a fake mark!

@AC Super nice cuff! Looks like the real deal to me. Hope some of our knowledgeable Hopi enthusiasts chime in.

Wow, nice find. I’m no expert on his work, but certainly looks like it has Victor’s typical hallmarks. Certainly pays to be suspicious with all the fakes today. The only piece of his that I have has only the cloud/5 rain lines. I’d love to find another of his cuffs! @chicfarmer would likely be a good resource on Victors work

If that’s the price, you did well, I think!

I’m leaning yes on it being Victor. He did these abstract geometric designs both early and then again very late in his production, always on a flat vs. a convex shank. The earliest had no etching in the base layer. @AC if your shank is quite flat throughout, that’s also a good sign. This is very clean work, very well executed–great looking!
