I’m new to collecting turquoise. I paid $45USD for these and I was wondering if I overpaid.
Could be American, but looking at the price, rather Persian turquoise. Look here
Stones are good and probably natural (still learning how to spot). Pyrite is mostly a 90% indication for real turquoise as Dan Lowry said often. Like the silversmithing style.
I think the price was very fair. But maybe experts here will jump in and say I was wrong
I don’t think you overpaid at all. Could be Persian, or Morenci or even Kingman Ithaca Peak. Lovely earrings probably dating to approximately 1970’s. Enjoy!
Very nice pair of earrings with pretty turquoise. I agree with @Islandmomma comment. In my opinion, I’m leaning toward the turquoise as Kingman with pyrite. I’m not sure the pieces, that attach to the earlobes, are original to these earrings. Those parts look slightly older to me stylistically than the 1970s. They just don’t look like a match to the turquoise dangle part, imo. Of course, I could be wrong about this.
You are correct! The parts that connect to the ear are different, so I’m guessing they were replaced. I forgot to upload a picture of the backs they have this marking on them, a signature maybe?
@Turquoisehead It looks like a signature/hallmark to me, too. Looking at the earring as shown, north-south, it may possibly be “CC” . I checked my Hougart’s hallmarks book for “CC” but, didn’t come up with a match. Even though I haven’t used Google Lens as a tool to research hallmarks, others here have. You may want to give it a try. Hope you have good luck in discovering the maker of these earrings.
Thanks for the help, it is appreciated
Very pretty earrings! I agree with @Patina in leaning towards Kingman. But whatever mine they came from, the stones are lovely. I definitely don’t think you overpaid!
