Could be American, but looking at the price, rather Persian turquoise. Look here
Stones are good and probably natural (still learning how to spot). Pyrite is mostly a 90% indication for real turquoise as Dan Lowry said often. Like the silversmithing style.
I think the price was very fair. But maybe experts here will jump in and say I was wrong
