Who does this hallmark belong to?

Can anyone help me identify the hallmark on my squash blossom necklace? Thank you in advance!

I found a lot of “A” hallmarks, but none quite like this one. Hopefully someone else will. Lovely squash!

That looks to be the Victorian “Roman” engravers font. Looks like the maker cut it from an engraved piece of silver and soldered it on.

I did an enlargement and it looks to be a Roman font stamp (not engraved) either with part of the “A” missing, or this is actually an unidentified hallmark.

@StevesTrail Hmm, that’s an interesting take on the hallmark. Having seen a bit of antique jewelry myself, your comment is plausible, imo. I can easily see this SB originally not having a hallmark, which isn’t uncommon for SB necklaces.

ETA: To be a little more clear, that attached plate looks like a later addition to me (looks incongruent to the necklace). Maybe someone thought the SB would be more saleable with a hallmark? :woman_shrugging: Is that too farfetched?

Nice find! I have been all over the internet researching this necklace. I have bought books, researched hallmarks and trading post stamps and then just searching through SB necklaces just trying to find a necklace similar, and this is the first one I’ve seen that is close! Thank you so much!
I’m wondering if this was made for a family member and that A is how they personalized it?
That would be quite a surprise as my first initial is also A!
