Wondering about this Squash Blossom Necklace

Hi Experts,
I am new to this and have purchased this squash from a native arts store. Can anyone tell me what turquoise this might be? Era? it has written
“new mine” on the back of the naja, which makes me wonder. It passed the hot needle test- does this look fake or real?
Thank you so much! Appreciate everyone on here!

Hello, nice to meet you. I’m new at this as well. I was left a lot of vintage items. I’m trying to find out about the origin and meaning of each piece. It’s mesmerizing.
I am off no help answering your questions except to say I’ve viewed quite a bit of these beautiful things they made and this squash is stunning too say the least.
Hope you keep your findings posted so I can learn more.
Again ,STUNNING necklace.

Thank you - I hope it’s real!
I’ll be sure to post anything I learn about it and that you get some good information on your pieces too. Lots to learn!

I’m not sure exactly what you mean by real; do you mean Native American? Or do you mean is the turquoise real? The turquoise looks real to me, but it may be stabilized, I can’t tell for sure. Do you remember the name of the store, and did they tell you anything about it? It does have a Navajo look. I’m assuming there’s no hallmark on the back? I’m not an expert on squash blossoms, but I know lots of them were made in the '70s, and I believe these beads are machine made, not handmade.

As far as knowing what mine the turquoise came from, that is always just an educated guess without having provenance from the maker / artist. I don’t have a guess on the mine.

Welcome to Turquoise People!

Hi Ziacat,
Thank you for your input- I appreciate it. The store I purchased it at had taken it in on consignment and didn’t know very much about it. They did say it was turquoise and silver- but I was hoping to know more about the type and such. No Hallmark- I think they said 60s or 70s.
Next time I’ll be sure to get more information. I shined it up- probably shouldn’t have done that…learning!
