I have been wondering about these seemingly similars marks a lot. Not only because of the very obvious different styles of the pieces itself but also in the mark itself. Let me put the mark in my ring next to the mark in the cuff posted here. Notice the scratching in the mark of the cuff and how smooth the mark in my ring is?

Mr Rogers, I want to thank you for your sharing your knowledge and sharpening my eye. I am not saying here: this is fake and this is real. I do not know.

Furthermore, I really need to get this from my chest. I know this is a forum and sometimes we joke around. I do make jokes about AI being on magic mushrooms or peyote, since it sometimes hallucinates. I hold so much respect to the Southwestern tribes, their visual language, traditions, spiritual beliefs and expressions.

Zombie bison, thorny devil. I am trying my best to not find it disrespectfull, I am sure it was not ment to be, just lightness and fun. I except as well that you could tell me: you are too serious and too moralistic and too sensitive. It just hit me a bit. Please do not be offended.

I don’t think you have been disrespectful at all. And we most definitely enjoy having some fun on here  We do all obviously respect and love this art, but I don’t believe that means we can’t have some humor in our threads.

Not at all offended on this side. Don’t know about moralistic, but my tolerance for the kind of vendor disingenuousness, and chicanery which remains rampant in this space has worn very thin over the years. I have to admit it’s irksome to me that as an industry and community we don’t seem to have learned to do a better job of separating wheat from chaff.

I feel very understood and I really appreciate it.

As an outsider from Europe it was somewhat shocking (even though I allready knew for years there are many NA inspired pieces sold as NA) to learn from you, Mr Rogers, the story of the amount of Phillipine made stuff sold as NA in the 1980-1990’s in Paris.

Very well made, apparently, so there is craftmanship in the offshore ateliers. But at the same time such a lie. To all involved. To the Phillipines for not doing their own creative thing but reproducing something that will sell and not really being honered for their work (no trace, sold of as something else). For the tribes to have their original and traditional designs copied and produced somewhere cheaper.

I am enthousiastic. I am sceptic. I am open minded. And I am moralistic. Because the industry based on NA jewelry that is not truely native and does not clarify: it hurts my soul.
