I have a friend that received this necklace and she thinks she got painted rocks but after looking at it I think it’s real (that doesn’t mean much lol). The pendant is marked L. Hilldreth. Can anyone help us out? Real thing or painted rocks?

No, they are definitely not painted rocks. Possibly stabilized turquoise. Let’s see if the experts agree.
Not an expert, but i agree. They just have a lot of matrix/host rock showing. I think they look good with the pendant.

That’s a wonderful piece! The rough spots enhance the blue in the stones and altogether the design is balanced and holistic. The stamped bail is a nice touch.
