Are you Hungry?

We made a quick trip to northern New Mexico, and stopped at Socorro’s Restaurant in Hernandez NM.

Delicious!

Huevos rancheros:

Everything comes with chile (or chili, as they spelled it here)

A few shots from the region.

I had to have “Lost my a$$ at the casino”

It was fun saying it to the waitress!

Ahh, you make me so jealous with your “quick” weekend trips to see the beautiful scenery of Northern New Mexico and eat delicious New Mexican food. Looks amazing and delicious!

Hi @OrbitOrange !

A friend recommended this place to us, and we are so glad we stopped. It was small inside, with lots of kitschy local decor. The elderly Mrs. Soccoro greeted us warmly and we had a nice chat with her. We will definitely return!

Ooh, you’re making me hungry…looks delicious. When we have time we love taking the “road less traveled” and stopping at interesting local eateries. This is a must on our list!

@Bmpdvm yes, you should stop in if you get a chance.

It is on Rt. 84, just north of Española heading towards Abiquiu.

Socorro’s is great! Was there with family a few years ago, and had exactly what you ordered, @Stracci! Food is wonderful, and the service is top notch. Highly recommend the Huevos Rancheros, with a side of Carne Adovada.

Oh my gosh! We ate there back in ‘18! We had been in Aztec, and chose just for fun to drive east across on 96 instead of going all the way on 550 to I25 (on our way to Santa Fe), and I wanted to find a good place to eat near Espanola. We stumbled on it. It was fabulous! I can’t remember exactly what I ate, except I got Christmas style on whatever it was. And I was happy cause they served posole on the side. I would have never remembered the name of it.

Following up, was in Albuquerque last weekend for a family function and stopped off at the Owl Cafe for Huevos Rancheros & coffee on my way to the airport. Breakfast was great!

I had a carne adovada burrito from Bode’s in Abiquiu the day before! It was so huge, I got three meals out if it.

Maybe you are familiar with this place, too. We always stop at Bode’s for breakfast on the way to Chama, where my brother-in-law has a house.

How amazing is that? Now you remember the name and you must come back!

Haven’t had the pleasure, @Stracci. Thanks for the tip! I’m a real fan of good Carne Adovada, and next time I’m up that way I’ll stop in for sure.

I will take this opportunity to put in a plug for Cocina Azul in Albuquerque. One of my favorite go to spots for great New Mexican food.

IDK if you remember Ron’s Camino Real in Albq - best carne adovada in town, with Sadie’s on North 4th coming in a close 2nd. Sadly,

Ron’s closed in about 2004. :frowning:

Are you talking about Cocina Azul on Mountain and 12th, or the location on Montgomery?

I haven’t been to either, but I pass by both of them frequently.

I have been wanting to try this place for a while now, as I drive by there weekly. Glad to hear you like it. I’ll add it to my list.

They’ve actually got 3. There’s one on Paseo just east of 25 across from Target. All are excellent! My wife and I usually split a dish because the portions are so generous.
