I’m looking at an Ophelia Moses necklace. The seller got it second hand so cannot tell me if it’s Block s turquoise. There is a suspicious pin prick in one far back cluster that looks like a failed block heat test (not pictured). The naja overlaps two of the blossoms and these stones appear to have some silver rub off (pictured). Is this wear pattern also potentially indicative of block? Or could actual stones produce this wear pattern? Ophelia is known to work in both block and stone
IMHO, RUN! There is a lot out there in that price range to choose from.
comparing same picture from both sites, the color anomaly on the cabs above the naja is more pronounced. this could be due to a harder image compression setting for listing photos
I did find one of her rings for sale at Palms Trading in ABQ; it’s a pretty good store; I’ve shopped there, and it’s written up in my Trading Post Guidebook.
However, you’ll notice it’s not priced crazy high for a cluster ring, so maybe you will want to be careful if the squash you’re looking at has a high price, or if you can even be sure it’s one of hers.
I guess my thought is, don’t buy if you don’t trust the seller.
There is a group of us on Facebook investigating this artist.
Would love to know what you found.
No history of this person aside from mainly questionable websites and companies who sell Philippine jewelry advertised as Native American made.
No one knows her.
You could try contacting the store I linked above since they apparently had one of her rings for sale. I know that Palms sometimes buys directly from the artists (a Native artist was in selling his work the last time I visited the store).
Yay Steve! I hadn’t seen that. When I bought my ring there back in '21, they told me I had just missed meeting the artist, Robert Yellowhorse, who had been in literally minutes before selling his jewelry to them.
It’s possible someone from the Philippines is using her hallmark.
I think the key was that you found her photo, and that Palms personally knows her. Probably the thing for @CarlaRedPill to do is to only check with legit good stores to get more information on the artist, because I’m wondering if there’s fakes out there being made in her name. And Palms Trading is certainly not a “questionable” company.
And here’s Palm’s latest post on Instagram in regards to this artist. So there are stores that know her. I’m not on Instagram so I can’t get very far in, and could only screenshot this.
@Stracci, the Instagram post says she’s trying out an adjustable shank for the first time!
@Ziacat
See? I’m tellin’ you, it’s the new hot thing!
