Yeah, it would look great in a shadow box on a wall. I’ve often thought about framing my larger squash blossoms and hanging them on the wall with my concho belts😊

That’s a great idea! Now the problem is I would have to actually have wall space left… I was raised to believe you should cover every inch of your walls with stuff

Would you believe I don’t even own a concha belt or a squash blossom :hushed:

Oh my…you need at least one of each😉

Perhaps. However 2 things keep me from buying either - budget and wearability. If I were to buy what I liked of either of those, I would have to cut back on spending on other items. And I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t wear either much. I might wear one of the smaller squash blossoms occasionally, but I know I would not wear a concho belt. It drives me nuts if I can’t put a belt through belt loops (and I don’t wear belts terribly often, especially in the winter). I know there are smaller ones, but I’m not particularly fond of those. With my job and life, cuffs, rings, and smaller necklaces make more sense. But I will continue to oooh and ahh over everybody else’s!

For a smaller concho belt, I like this one on Double D’s website.

Ha! Or this one by Britwest.

Or even better, this one!

But I better save my $ for now.

This morning while looking for a specific pair of earrings to wear, I came across these cross earrings. The stamped earrings are huge, and I’ve never worn them (even though they’re lightweight). The hallmark, I believe, is for Phyllis Chavez, Kewa (from Hougart’s 3rd edition NA & SW hallmarks book). The stone, in the dangle earrings, is Malachite. I haven’t identified that hallmark.

I wore mine quite a bit many years ago when we went to the southwest. Typically I wore the belts below the waist over a long collared button up shirt, with either a long skirt or jeans. The belts I wore with jeans were just nice leather with silver +/- turquoise buckles. Squash blossom necklaces also look greats under collared button up shirts. Times are so much more casual now, fewer and fewer folks wear concho belts. But, even if I don’t wear them, I just enjoy having them and appreciate the workmanship etc. I guess If I didn’t already have them, like you, I’d likely spend the money on other types of jewelry😊

Oh. My. Gosh. I would so wear those earrings! I love large earrings, but unfortunately most of them are too heavy for me, because my right earlobe has been stretched out (probably from years of wearing heavy earrings ). They’re both beautiful, but your simple silver pair reminds me of mine that I posted earlier in this thread.

@Bmpdvm, I think concho belts look amazing worn like that. I’ve tried it in the past with my regular belts, and it just drives me insane. It feels like whatever they’re over, whether a dress, sweater, or shirt, just keeps riding up whenever I sit down or stand up, and I go nuts pulling at it. Often I wear a regular belt and buckle, and do a half tuck with my shirt which works nicely - easy peasy.

I’m such a dingbat. I completely forgot my very favorite piece of cross jewelry. I wear this a lot - my Britwest Spanish cross cuff (which I have posted before, but it belongs in this thread). We had a family business that closed in the late '80s, but we still owned the buildings which we rented out as antique shops. Several years ago we finally sold the buildings, and I bought this in memory of my father. I knew he would have loved it because it has antique leather, silver, and a cross.

It also comes off the leather, and can be worn as a pendant, which is nice.

Oh @Ziacat that is just stunning! And so lovely that it is associated with your father’s memory. That is very sweet

Very nice, Zia! Kind of has a ketoh vibe going on.

@Ziacat That’s a showstopper turquoise bracelet! Very cool. It looks beautiful as a pendant on a heishi necklace .

@Ziacat My goodness, that is an awesome bracelet/pendant! I love how you can do two things with it, and what a sweet memory.

I really love crosses. Now I’m inspired to keep my eye out for more!

I’m also one that does not own either a concho belt or a squash blossom due to wearability. I generally do not buy jewelry and accessories that I won’t wear. It’s not that I don’t appreciate the craftsmanship… I Love both the look and the amount of detail and work in those pieces, but I’ve never been one for wearing long, large necklaces, but I do wear my smaller, more choker style pieces quite often. And I just have never really worn belts, although I do remember wearing big shirts with a belt over them back in the '80s! Unfortunately, I only had cheap belts and nothing nice!

I was thinking just now that the stone in your beautiful Larson Lee ring looks a lot like this one. I think you said that was water web Kingman? The artist said that this one is natural Kingman; she goes to the mine, and picks them out.

Wow, it is a cross!#! What a great, interesting piece; and interchangeable cuff and pendant - Unique! It’s wonderful the association with your father. Certainly looks similar to that type of Kingman with the brownish-green matrix.

@Ziacat the stones are similar in the water web, but yours has a lot more brown; mine is very blue with just a touch of light tan matrix. But yes,…water web Kingman; I don’t know if it is treated or not, though.
