Eiteljorg Indian Market & Festival 2026

Thanks! It’s the first piece I ever bought from her, way back at one of the earliest Eiteljorg markets.

I was just admiring how your pendant’s color palette relates to our beloved tee shirt artwork! Wondering if she still makes abstract designs…

Thanks! It does go well with the T. I also find myself wearing it a lot at Christmas time.

You know, I’m not really sure about that. I was so distracted by her birds and such at the last market I don’t remember if she had abstract designs. But I’m thinking she does still make them. This rectangle pendant is the second one I bought from her, but again that was many years ago.

It’s on a Lita Atencio necklace. I hadn’t remembered I had gotten that from her, but I talked to her about it last time. The little red bead gave it away

Besides her hummingbirds, the other piece I have been tempted by is one of her Thunderbird pendants. I kept thinking I wouldn’t buy it since I have a depression era necklace that I don’t wear a lot, but who knows!

So now I’m gonna geek out a bit and post a bunch of pictures of her work that I love. A thunderbird like this one…

This hummingbird is still on my list…

And this lil’ owl is too cute …

And another Thunderbird along with the flower on the left (all 5 are lovely)…

Sorry for all this, but I couldn’t resist.

The hummingbird :star_struck: : it’s gonna get ugly at her table as two Turquoise Forum gals are caught tussling. News at 6! :movie_camera:

We feed the hummingbirds and watch them daily. Too cute!

You made me literally LOL :joy:

And you reminded me that I need to change the food in my hummingbird feeder since it’s been so hot.

Last time we were in Tucson we went to the Desert Museum, and they had a hummingbird section. It was crazy; they were all zooming around us.

Not that you asked for my vote  but, the hummingbird for the win! It’s an irresistible beauty. Ms. Tafoya’s other work is wonderful ~ the hummingbird is special.

There goes the budget  Wish I were able to attend but too many irons in the fire this year.

Yeah, I should have bought it two summers ago. I don’t think she had any there last year

Maybe next year! I’m actually going to be tighter on my budget this year.

Plus I’m going to be by myself this year, no hubby, so I don’t know how long I’ll actually hangout.

I usually carry a small travel purse when I go to the market (usually I’m a large bag/purse kind of gal), but I always end up carrying extra stuff around, so this year I thought I’d take a larger tote bag. But a few weeks ago I went to a concert at the coliseum in town, and they weren’t letting any purses in except teeny tiny little things. So my niece and I ended up stuffing things in my jacket cargo pockets. That made me wonder if something like that would happen this year at the Eiteljorg. I called them today to find out, and they said you can bring anything in size wise, but they will search it like usual. Just wanted to pass that on.

Sure hope you have great fun and find some good stuff! I can’t wait to see what you get.

I had thought I might try to go to that festival this year, but we ended up with two big trips this spring in close proximity to one another, so adding this trip to the mix this year won’t be possible. Maybe next year!

Seems like a few of the group either have or would like to attend this. Maybe it might become a loose Turquoise People meetup over the next few years!

I just looked at the weather forecast for next Saturday. Only a high of 81! If that holds it is so much better than usual. The storms have been crazy, but they seem to have ushered in cooler weather. One of our favorite festivals is here this weekend, and it’s usually sweltering, so yay for cooler temps, and I hope it holds through next weekend.

Good news, now we can tolerate waiting in line outside for the Navajo tacos.:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Me too too! I love Santa Fe, and there is so much to do with the museums, free market and the wonderful galleries, in addition to the actual market. But sometimes I think it would be nice to experience a different and smaller market…and I’ve heard so many good things about Eiteljorg show! To top it off, it would be fun to meet up with some of you!
On the trip to SF we typically spend a night at the La Posada in Winslow. But this year we are also heading to Las Vegas (NM) to experience another restored Fred Harvey House, the Castenada. Has anyone ever been there? I’m such a fan of La Posada, I hope it’s equally wonderful!

Jeff Ogg of Ogg’s Hogan in Prescott told me once that visiting the Eiteljorg Museum is on his bucket list. People out west very often tell us (hubby and me) that it’s one of the best Western/Native American Museums in the US.

I think my brother visited the Hotel in Las Vegas and enjoyed it, but that was quite some time ago. He loved historic hotels.

I imagine I would prefer the smaller market. The huge crowds would not be my thing.
