In some of the interviews I’ve watched Mark Sublette conduct with fellow dealers, the Eiteljorg is mentioned and held in reverence. He’s also produced a few shorts showcasing some permanently displayed artwork, and Mark Winter has told of performing research and showing the Durango Collection at the museum.
It’s pretty neat knowing that these (and other) icons of Native American and Western art consider it such a special place, as it truly is.
The email finally came through for me also. Sorry about my post above saying they weren’t necessary, but I called them last week and specifically asked them. Oh well.
I just bought two clear plastic bags with a zipper on the top that are 12x4x12 which should be fine. If anyone needs one, or has a family member that needs one, let me know, cuz I’m going to throw the extra one in my car. I got them at Dick’s Sporting Goods.
@Ziacat So, purses aren’t allowed to be brought into the event? (I can understand no backpacks.) Only clear plastic bags can be brought in as a “purse”? Just trying to understand. Thanks.
Correct, no purses! Isn’t that annoying?! It’s starting to happen at concerts also. We went to one a few weeks ago, and we weren’t allowed to take anything in but a teeny tiny bag, like the size of my longish wallet, and it had to be clear. At least here it’s 12x 6x12 which is decent sized.
Oh, I haven’t encountered that yet. For a local Gem & Mineral Show, you have to walk through TSA type security & put your purse on the conveyor belt, too. I’m kind of a private person. I wouldn’t be fond of my normal purse stuff being visible to everyone. Guess, I’d just shove everything into my pockets, instead .
My niece, grand niece and I were at a concert, and fortunately I had a light jacket with cargo pockets so we were able to stuff things in there. But I believe this Saturday will be too warm for me to wear a jacket like that I think it will feel weird to me also to have a clear bag. Like everybody can see everything we like to carry around with us.
It must be a fairly recent thing. I had been to another concert in February, and was allowed to take in a small purse. They told me at the coliseum that it is up to the individual performer. Must be the same with events.
Thanks Steve! @tepowell emailed me this afternoon asking me if I had heard about the change yet. I hadn’t, so I was really glad she contacted me, and I Googled quickly, and some of those bags that you posted came up. Fortunately Dick’s Sporting Goods had a perfect bag, and they’re really close to where I work. I called them and they sent 2 aside for me which I picked up.
Like I said, if anyone or a family member needs one I’m going to throw the extra one in my car.
Ugh just back from travel and seeing this. I take “clear bags” to mean purses? (I didn’t myself get the email, just quoting @tepowell). As in, stadium approved in those dimensions like a normal clear stadium bag. No? Not literally we walk in with Ziplocs. But worse for me, the museum is closed on Friday the 26th! This is new. It’s a pop up now on the website.
Grrrr
(Problem for me is 2 day amazon shipping is not gonna work.)
Oh no! Closed?? Weird. I will have an extra tote bag in my car if you would like to have it. I’m hoping to be there by 10:00 a.m. Saturday when it opens.
Such a nice offer that I unfortunately can’t take you up on, bc we’ll be getting there for the earlier morning event (breakfast) and have to be prepared then. Well, if Fri. museum touring is now scrapped I’ll make time to find something.
I’m going to still throw the extra bag in my car in case somebody ends up needing it. And if not, it doesn’t hurt me to have a second one since so many places seem to be starting to require this. But it would have been too big for the concert I went to.
