Eiteljorg Indian Market & Festival 2026

No I get that (about the stadium type bag): but @Patina asked if “no purses” and only clear plastic bags (which I think she was implying = Ziplocs). [EDIT I misunderstood] I think the answer is purses/totes are still yes, if and only if they’re clear.

Now I can’t find the pop up on the Eiteljorg site that said it was closed Friday! I’m really tired, maybe that’s the problem.

Yes I think that’s what it means. Did you get the email from the Eiteljorg about it? If not I’ll link it.

I’m still annoyed because I called them last week and SPECIFICALLY asked them if I could bring in a regular tote bag or did it have to be small and/or clear. And they told me, nope no problem we’ll just search the bags. I guess they made a last-minute change. And I’m extra grumpy cuz we had some crap come up at work today.

I haven’t gotten an email because we’ll be hosted as guests. So I’m really glad to know about this now.

@chicfarmer My original comment was prompted by @tepowell’s comment about “requiring clear bags”. I asked if it meant that purses were not allowed in the event. No, I wasn’t implying ziploc bags.

Here’s the excerpt from the email I got. Sounds like no bags but clear, even diaper bags-

Gotcha, sorry. So, purses (bags) are allowed, but they must be clear.

We found some nice small backpacks at Target-

Dang, I can’t link it because it’s an email. And my phone is being really STUPID right now so I can’t even link a screenshot.

As you can tell I’m testy at the moment

But yay, @tepowell added it.

And to add to it all, @Ravenscry will understand this…

I can hardly get out of my stupid city to get to work, because of construction on EVERY. SINGLE. STINKING. ROAD (I yelled that as I voice texted it). And then there’s the ridiculous 465 mess of construction down around Indy. Y’all better check the roads before you go.

There. I feel better now. Although I do sound like a pouty five year old.

We were going to tour the museum Friday too…maybe due to weather? :frowning:

No need to apologize at all. Yes, from what @tepowell just posted, their policy uses bag(s) as an umbrella term to include, but not limited to: purses, diaper bags, backpacks, totes. Those accessories must be replaced by the use of clear bags.

If I didn’t have to work till 7:00 Friday night maybe I’d come down and hang out, but I can’t get out of it.

Yes, that’s exactly what I was thinking when @tepowell emailed me. We don’t have Amazon Prime, so I knew I was going to have to find something here. The gal at Dick’s Sporting Goods was really nice. I called her from work, she looked to see if they had any left, and set 2 aside for me to pick up when I got done. They’re about 5 minutes from the rink.

Once again, thank you so much Tepowell for the alert!! I probably wouldn’t have seen the email till who knows when, because it was in my promotional emails.

It’s summer in the midwest, that’s road construction, right?? We are right off 65 way down south, and it is a bigger nightmare in summer due to beach traffic and neverending construction. Take a deep breath, and good luck!

I feel you, Zia. When a 20 minute drive becomes close to an hour due to alternate routes and diverted traffic…:man_facepalming:

The entire first floor of the museum, save for the permanent exhibits, is utilized for the market, so I can easily understand it being closed to accommodate the artists setting themselves up.

@chicfarmer and @tepowell, I’m wishful that both of you find spare moments to check out the exhibits on the main floor as well as upstairs on the second. There are a few paintings and exhibits that affect me deeply, so I’ll definitely be making my way to them, at some point. :+1:

Great suggestions, Ravenscry. And for other excitement, per the website the elevator to the second floor is out of order. Hello Eiteljorg, your timing is…

Yes, our seasons are as follows:

  1. Winter
  2. Get ready and start some construction if weather allows season
  3. construction season
  4. finish off whatever is left of construction season (hopefully the beautifully turning leaves will distract people from the work that’s still not done)

But it’s like they are on steroids this year. They’ve blown up one of the biggest intersections in our small city east of Ft Wayne, and are doing who the heck knows what with it. And now of course shut down the route I was taking to avoid that mess. Among other various lane closures and such.
