@Ziacat oh no!!! Very saddened to hear this…she was too young but undoubtedly had five incredible, happy years with you. My heart goes out to you, I’m sorry for your loss. 
Thank you! I’m adjusting, but still feel sad on and off. Especially when I walk in the door after getting home from anywhere. I hope your kitty that always reminded me of Mosi is doing well.

Shadow, aka “Steve” is doing well, thanks. Fat and happy and ruling over our dog from the back of the couch daily!!
“Steve,” I love it our neighbor cat is Nigel, and there’s a cat in the neighborhood with a collar that says “Gary.”
I’ve got no idea where my son came up with the name Steve for her. He just randomly started calling her that one day and has called her that ever since. 
Even though he was the one that named her Shadow.
We’ve got a “Mango Man” in my friend’s neighborhood. LOL
I recently met a dog named Dave. A pleasant and handsome blue heeler-border collie-whatnot mix. I thought that was hysterical!
I’m not sure why, but Dave seems fitting for a pleasant dog The people names crack me up. Nigel comes over to get a treat from me regularly, and we always say something like, “Nigel popped over for a visit.”
Hmm, I must be doing this naming business all wrong 
. I’ve named the cats in the colony that I feed: Teeny, Silky, Zippy, Pixie, Pinky, and Baby. There’s one cat who’s not part of the colony but, makes his appearance only in the mornings. My husband named him… Earl

I trap the cats and get them spayed/neutered through a local sponsored program known as Trap-Neuter-Release(TNR).
I think you are doing it quite well I read somewhere that cats and dogs respond better to names that end in a “y” sound. Our cats have been Alley, Poppy, Zia (the name that didn’t follow the pattern), and Mosi.
We have a friend from Tennessee named Earl who has a very strong Southern accent, so I can imagine your occasional visitor meowing with a drawl
I love that you’re doing that with the neighborhood stray cats. My mom used to do something similar.
So sorry to hear about Mosi, @Ziacat. She was a beautiful girl and obviously a joy in your life. Kidney disease, progressing to kidney failure, is so common in cats, with a variety of underlying causes. Some cats do surprisingly well, others deteriorate fairly quickly. I know you made the difficult but correct decision for your beloved friend. My heartfelt condolences for your loss; she is at peace.

When her KD was first diagnosed 3 years ago I didn’t think she’d make it then. She did great up until this last week, but it’s just a shame she was so young.
I imagine I’ll get another cat eventually, but at this moment I can’t imagine it. However when my hubby retires soon he will need company!
