Frog brooch with green turquoise - IS it turquoise?

This is a small Frog pin/pendant by Doris Smallcanyon. It was sold as having [green] turquoise stones, but I am wondering whether this is in fact turquoise.

I like it in any case – green is better for frogs! – but all the same would welcome your opinions.

Thank you!

Looks like turquoise from here.

@chamekke It’s as cute as can be! If not turquoise, what do you think it may be? A variscite? (Looks like turquoise, imo.)

@mmrogers , thank you!

@Patina , thanks, I think it’s cute too :slight_smile: I was asking because I’m still pretty unfamiliar with green turquoise, and this doesn’t look like the (still very few) green turquoise pieces I already have.

(I should add that it was sold second-hand, I don’t think the seller was the original purchaser. Not suggesting they were lying, just that resellers don’t always know what they’ve got!)

it sort of looks like Chrysoprase to me.

Could be Chrysoprase but looks like turquoise it seems to have blue in it so not variscite it’s my understanding that variscite lacks copper thus not containing blue tones. Could be my eyes though🧐

I don’t think’s Chrysoprase- those stones look quite opaque, chryso is translucent- at least the nice stuff.

My laptop must be messed up. The eyes look somewhat translucent to me.

The stones aren’t at all translucent, but the photos may give that impression. The light was reflecting off the stones’ polished surfaces – I couldn’t find an angle where that could be avoided. “Cheap and cheerful” photography!

Thanks for the clarification.
