I found this little pendant in a local thrift shop. The turquoise seems to be real as far as I can tell, pretty sure the setting is silver if not sterling. The cabochon is very slightly sunken and loose in its setting, but in no danger of actually falling out. No marks at all on the pendant back, although it did come with a 26" sterling ball chain.
Likely to be NA? Any idea about turquoise type? Age based on the style of the setting? Any comments welcome – thank you!
@chamekke Always nice to find a piece of turquoise at a thrift store! The turquoise looks like the real deal to me. Maybe teal Kingman or Fox? The pendant looks more artisan made than NA to me. Just my thoughts about it.
Thank you for your thoughtful reply, @Patina ! Yes, I was thinking that might be the case. Still a sweet (and very affordable) little piece. Interesting about Kingman or Fox — I don’t think I’ve seen a deep teal turquoise in person before, and honestly hadn’t a clue where it might be from. It’s certainly a lovely colour.
I agree! It may have started its life as a lighter blue, but over the years of being worn, absorbed oils darkening the turquoise. I love the deep teal color!
