Hallmark identification - is this native?

Bought this piece from a store in Santa Fe. Was told it was Native but now I’m having serious doubts. It’s a white buffalo necklace. Is this a non-Native “hallmark”?

Hello, this looks to me like a somewhat smudged version of the mark of Darren Livingston (Navajo). Here is the entry for him in Hougart 4th edition:

Compare Hougart’s photo of Darren Livingston’s mark (“D. Livingston”):

…to yours:

You can do a search about Darren Livingston to learn more about him; he comes from a family of silversmiths. I also found this listing for a white buffalo cuff bracelet by him, so this artist definitely does work in white buffalo stone.

Thanks for pointing out the Darrin / Darren thing, @Steve ! ISorry to say I hadn’t noticed that. Hougart gives Darren (as do several of the short bios I found on him at sites like Bischoff’s), so I didn’t look further than that. No idea which is actually correct, now you mention it.

your ID of Darren Livingston is spot on going by Hougart and the bio at Bishoff
