My only 4th of July jewelry is my eagle by Carlene C Leekity that was a gift from my nephew years ago. But here are a couple more amazing rugs I found on a Facebook site. Thought I’d put them on here instead of the rug thread.
Hope you all are having an wonderful weekend! I’m also happy, cuz my husband doesn’t have to go to build trucks this weekend , so we spent today at beautiful Lake Michigan. But we did have a few storms to start, and then sunshine.
Okay. I like fireworks, but this is a bit insane. Went outside to watch a bit, and our addition smells like smoke and is literally hazy. And of course now the sirens started…
I’m pretty over the neighborhood fireworks as well. In our small town parade the firefighters always go first so they’re ready for the rest of the day’s idiocy.
Agree. It’s 1:00 a.m. I’m going to bed, and there’s still someone shooting off a few fireworks.
But a quick funny story. Years and years ago we were in Kanab, UT on the 4th of July, so it was hot and dry. The town was having fireworks. We heard sirens, and someone in town said, yep it started a fire. She said, they’ll start right back up as soon as they get it out. We didn’t believe it, but sure enough they did. Those Western towns love Independence Day
When we lived in Pendleton, fireworks were forbidden on the wheat ranch we lived on (wheat goes whoosh into flames pretty fast and is big scary when it completely surrounds the houses and barns) - so we always went into town to watch the official show. We’ve seen a guy set off a roman candle inside his pickup, and a guy shot one across the highway and set a hillside on fire (right in front of a police cruiser going through the D&B parking lot we were watching from), you can’t fix stupid when it comes to illegal fireworks.
A belated Happy July 14 to you @Ziacat, all to all. We are currently out of town, but I’ll contribute a jar I had Elizabeth Medina make for us. American flag on one side, Zia flag on the opposite side:
Hi RedlandMaggie. Your story is interesting in that we are currently in eastern WA state staying in the wonderful little town of Colfax. My husband’s family has farmed here for years. There are beautiful “waves of golden grain,” beautiful yellow canola, and grazing animals everywhere…and there were fireworks going off everywhere! Everything is still fairly green, but it suprised the heck out of me! I wish they would outlaw them everywhere, except for professional fireworks shows. I always worried about our horses getting spooked and bolting through a fence. And one of our Border Collies was always terrified by the noise.
God’s beautiful farming country:
The Palouse is a beautiful area - the variety of wheat we farmed was usually a little further along than shown in your photo. Our horses were annoyed but not spooked at fireworks, but for some reason the johnny popper tractor at our neighbors made them super snorty
