Happy Cinco de Mayo

Happy May 5th!

I’ve been collecting sombrero charms over the years for a fun charm bracelet, almost there.

And the same to you forum friend. You have a very nice sombrero collection and an appropriate photo for today.

Oh, that’s a wonderful sombrero collection! I hope you get to complete your bracelet soon. Here’s my only sombrero & it’s a small, sterling pin. That’s imitation turquoise, at best. You can see Mexico on the front. Thx for sharing.

This is so creative and adorable! The variety of sizes makes it extra eye-catching.

Do you try to collect your charms in person / from places you’ve visited? I see a lot of them on Etsy, Poshmark, etc.

I mainly trip over them while out thrifting. A few of them came from our grandmother in the 70’s when they used to snowbird in Mexico. The large one I will turn into a pendant (it was a keychain) as it’s pretty heavy for the bracelet.

I love charm bracelets and have a few different types (enamel state charms, skiing charms, a western necklace one that turned out pretty cool…)

That makes sense! Serendipity is much the nicest way to complete a collection. Up here we don’t see too many sombrero charms — or NA jewellery, for that matter — so my first thought is always “online” :sunglasses:

I do a large amount of browsing online as well. That’s how I fell into all of my Peyote Bird watches that I coveted and couldn’t afford back in the 80’s, but now are on ShopGoodwill alot, so voila’, I have a curated collection
