Has anybody heard Vern Haleset….Navajo

I am interested in a cuff bracelet by the above named artist. Looking forward to your responses. Thank you!

I’ve never heard that name, and couldn’t find anything online with a quick Google. Are you sure it wasn’t Vernon Hale?

Interesting. Google didn’t provide much either.
Could be Vernon Hale
Included a pic of signature. Could this be fake?

That’s not his hallmark. My understanding is that he usually does work with his wife.

I can’t tell what that is, or even for sure if it’s a hallmark. And I’ve never heard the term “premium” used with turquoise. Hmmm…

Maybe it’s an unmarked work that owner etched their own name into? :person_shrugging:

it looks like the first mention of this piece is at the Dennis June Gallery in Scottsdale, closed last year. https://ii.dennisjunegallery.com/product-page/navajo-sterling-silver-bracelet currently up for auction on the web. I, too, did not find anything else on the web with the word “Haleset”.

I also located it for auction on the Western Trading Post website. In their sale listing, they have “Navajo” after the name Vern Haleset. Personally, I’d take that with a grain of salt. I found zero info about the VH name online other than these 2 auction listings. This name isn’t listed in Hougart’s book, either.

@Patina Noticed the same. Also, that manner of engraving is always open to interpretation as applied by someone other than the artist.

If I’m not mistaken, it’s possible that a previous owner had his name etched on it — in which case it’s not necessarily the name of the maker.

My thoughts also. Thank you
