I did it again... Pawn shop cuff

I foolishly stumbled into one of my favorite pawn shops ……and wouldn’t you know it, I fell in love.

This cuff was a smokin’ deal, and I couldn’t leave without it.

I can see why you had to have it.

@fernwood

Photos don’t do it justice. The stamping is just divine.

If only there was a signature. I’d love to know who made it.

That’s a beautiful carinated cuff. It looks perfect on you.

@here4turquoise

I don’t know why, but carinated cuffs always get my attention!

I only deliberated for a few minutes before I decided that I needed yet another bracelet….:face_with_spiral_eyes:

@Stracci , I would have bought it too! It’s a magnificent cuff :slight_smile:

This pawn shop has yielded so much great stuff…every time I go in there, I spend money.

Everything is priced low, then they go down a little more to sweeten the pot. My kinda place!

You are a return customer so they show their appreciation.

looks like something in between Sterling & Navajo was there at one time.

The area between the two words looks like light tool marks to me. It doesn’t seem like anything was intentionally ground away.

Of course it’s hard to say for sure.

I’ll take some better pictures tomorrow.

@Stracci Congrats on nabbing an impressive beauty! Detective @Steve strikes again. That link isn’t of a carinated bracelet, but Calvin Martinez has made many, it seems:

This listing shows one with similar terminals to Stracci’s:

i grabbed the screenshot to show that “Sterling” & “Navajo” stamps were also used by Calvin Martinez.

Hougart’s example only showed the arrow head.

the NATIVO/=ARTS picture of the hallmark was taken with their “IMPORTANT” potato cam :rofl:

Aeye suggested Calvin Martinez as 1 of 2 possibilities, i just connected the dots

Gorgeous bracelet, @Stracci. The detail work in the old school compound pattern triangle stamps themselves is really unusual in a modern piece, using at least two other stamps to form the overall design. The combination adds a rich complexity to an already beautiful and compelling design. Really next level!

I second this, Tom. Steve’s pattern recognition and sleuthing skills are amazing!

OMG!!!@Steve thank you soooooo much! You are amazing! I can’t believe you figured this out!

I never would’ve guessed Calvin Martinez!

So now the question begs asking …why would someone remove this makers mark…….stolen from him? To pass off as their own work? I guess we’ll never know.

Here is another shot of the inside

@Patina may have it right. :clap: At first I wondered if a prior owner just obliterated the hallmark, misunderstanding what it meant, but her take seems more likely.

Congrats on finding this beauty at your favorite pawnshop! It fits you perfectly. A cuff that can be worn either alone or stacked - the best of both worlds. (Just my opinion, I don’t necessarily think the pictograph hallmark was removed. Looks to me like it just didn’t “take” in that not-very-smooth area where it was stamped :woman_shrugging:.)
