It had me at the bezel šŸ˜†

This song is running through my mind because we like 'em BIG and CHUNKY. Hahahahaha

If you have kids born in the 2000’s, you may remember this movie. Now I want to watch Madagascar movies. :joy: Or listen to will.i.am.

Thank you!! I really appreciate that from you  Even if I hadn’t found the cuff, I would have been happy with just this ring. The lady at the shop kept telling me it was a bit too big, but I knew I don’t like them tight, and that my fingers swell.

I was familiar with David Lister from online articles, but I hadn’t seen any of his work in person. Garland’s gives you a fact sheet about the piece you buy, and the artist that made it, so I learned that David Lister lives in the small town of Dilkon, AZ, on the Navajo Rez. What’s interesting is that I have a friend who has some Navajo friends who pastor a small Church in Dilkon, AZ, and we visited there back in 2019. Sometimes it really is a small world!

@Xtina, I’ve never watched that movie and haven’t heard the song, but now it’s stuck in my head  It’s kind of funny, cuz I actually titled this thread thinking of the movie Jerry Maguire.

It’s called a castellated bezel. It’s made with a saw or a cut off wheel

Thanks for the clarification . Interesting how some artist just use the term ā€œhand cutā€. Sure makes a beautiful setting.

I have driven by Garland’s at least twice and have yet to stop there! Every time I’ve been in Oak Creek canyon, my husband has elected to drive right past that store! We have stopped at some of the dealers that are on the side of the road here and there, but I think the hubs knows that there will be a price paid in the form of a nice piece of jewelry if we ever managed to stop at that store, so his solution is to keep on pretending that it doesn’t exist, despite my protests. Hahaha

You need to drive next time. Problem solved!

Well, he is right that you may part with some serious cash if you stop! It wasn’t the place for deals, but what they have is amazing, and I had been saving up. I don’t remember ever seeing roadside stands in the canyon; only at the very top, and that lookout was still closed for the season.

Keep reminding him how much the price of silver has gone up, so you are merely investing well

Oh, and my husband noticed a historical marker across the road from Garland’s, so maybe you can trick him into stopping for that

Ignorance is bliss for him @Xtina . And he keeps control of his inner wallet. :money_mouth_face:

Dairy Queen had several vendors near/in their parking lot, IIRC.

Oh! In Sedona. Once you head into the canyon I didn’t see any, but we were earlier this year.

Yes, near Sedona. Maybe it was too early for them to set up. We were there in May of 2023.

I’ve never even noticed the Dairy Queen IN Oak Creek Canyon; I was assuming you meant back in town. I googled it, and it is permanently closed, so that’s probably why I didn’t see anybody there.

Oh my goodness. Well, maybe that is why no one was there. :worried:

I know that road! I looked it up, but I kind of thought that might be the route that you picked knowing your name  We’ve only driven it once all the way, and it was so beautiful. We went to Bandelier, and were able to stop at a few other places along the way. I remember a couple miles before Soda Dam we saw one lone pine tree on fire from a lightning strike. As we came up to the dam there was a policeman on the side, and we pulled over and told him. He kind of just nodded and smiled like, ā€œyeah, I know there’s forest fires,ā€ and we said, NO, it’s just back few miles, and he took off like crazy.

I really want to go back to Bandelier sometime. It was one of my nephew’s favorite places while he lived in ABQ.

Exactly! we lived in a tiny town called Ponderosa for 5 years, and loved every second of it! eventually we will move back to NM, when the retirement fairies decree we can afford it.

This is the post office in Ponderosa (87044) - a tiny cabin in the front yard of the postmistress’ house. It’s about the size of a walk-in closet, and was open whenever we could catch the postmistress out tending her animals.

That’s quite the post office! I’ve lived in a couple small towns where we had to pick up our mail at a small post office, but I didn’t have to wait for them to finish taking care of their animals

What a beautiful area to live in. Did you get a lot of snow?
