It had me at the bezel šŸ˜†

We had a fair amount, but it’s high desert so it melts off quickly. I can remember many xmas and new years in short sleeves! i do remember one year driving home from Albq after work (yes, we commuted!) there was a massive snowstorm and they closed hwy 44 (now NM 550) behind us at Bernalillo (I-25). what was usually a 50 minute drive was over 3 hours. we had to beg off the state trooper to let us through to go home. Good thing we knew the road so well, or we would have ended up frozen dead in a ditch. I also remember a few times i had to call in to work ā€œunable to get out of the drivewayā€ due to snow, and my boss in Albq was all - what snow?

That is one heck of a commute @Jemez2 !
Of course, the scenery is fabulous the whole way, but still!

That’s one thing I love about Albuquerque, very little snow.
But just north and east of the city, they get much more.

it WAS one heck of a commute! we moved up there in 1995, right before our first wedding anniversary. WE bought a used mobile home on a rented lot, and even with the extra gas to drive to Albq, it was still waaaay cheaper than renting in Albq. BONUS we got to live in the Jemez!

The drive from Ponderosa to where we worked was about 55 miles one way, every weekday and sometimes on weekends too, until we moved back to Albq at xmas 2000. I actually loved the drive, it became meditative and was a good way to wind down after the work day. We could drive to White Rock for groceries if we didn’t want to drive to town, and there used to be a little video/grocery/antique store near Canon (the White Barn) where you could get milk or eggs or emergency supplies if you ran out of something.

We adored living up there.

Got it today! Love it, and the dark red color that I picked really reminds me of the red rocks in Sedona, GC, Vermillion Cliffs, etc along the road. I pictured it here with a some of our other AZ Route 89 purchases we made throughout the years.

This is a shout-out to Garland’s for their great customer service. I noticed about a month after I bought this ring that the stone is a bit loose. But I’ve been busy, and just kept putting off calling them. I finally got hold of them a couple days ago, and since they had my purchase on record, the store is going to fix it. I wasn’t sure they would since I waited so long, but, yay, Garland’s!

I received my fixed ring back from Garland’s today. Only took about 2 weeks total from sending it to getting it back. I am so pleased with their great customer service. Now I can wear it with no worries!

The color of the stone in the sun is amazing.

Thank you all! I’m really glad to be able to feel comfortable wearing it again. I only wore it for about a month after I bought it back in April before I noticed the looseness. Then I thought it was my imagination, and then I just put off calling Garland’s. So grateful to them still fixing it after my procrastination.

I have posted the cuff a couple times previously on here. It is made by Charlie John, and I bought it as pawn (still have the ticket) at Shush Yaz in Gallup a long time ago. I had no idea on the mine, so I posted it back in an old spider web turquoise thread, and asked Jason his opinion. He thought very possibly Indian Mountain. Even though the ring looks good in the sun here, the stone in the cuff doesn’t appear as vibrant as it actually is. Here’s a pic from another thread that shows it better.

The sides of it are nice too…

Well, it certainly is a show stopper!
The kite shaped stone is unusual. I don’t recall ever seeing one quite like that.

It is unusual, and heavy. Thanks! I wear that cuff A LOT.

Thanks! Looking back, the cuff was a STEAL. Remembering what I paid for it and thinking about the recent thread on prices going up at Goodwill, reminds me that prices are going up everywhere.

As I think about it, I also agree with what you said at one point about shopping in stores for some people being somewhat emotional. Because I admit it really is for me. Every time I put those pieces on I think back to exactly when and where I got them, and it gives me good memories.

@Ziacat Honestly, you have a great eye for unique cuffs. I need to stop buying any piece I find that fits and start waiting/saving to buy quality pieces. Thank you for sharing your beautiful cuff.

Thank you. I remember your collection of cuffs, and they are wonderful!

I will say, having limited myself on how and when I shop makes me think closely about what I buy. When I first started purchasing Native American art I had less $ to spend, and knew very little, but was fortunate in finding some trading post/shop owners who enjoyed sharing their wisdom. I also relied on my Trading Post Guidebook, and it never let me down. I’ve also learned to not buy something unless I absolutely love it, and know that I will wear it. I certainly have had some regretful purchases in the past, because I didn’t follow my ā€œrules.ā€ Those have been rehomed

I am starting to rehome some jewelry as well. I’m
starting with the crafters stuff first like the dyed stones. If they don’t sell at the consignment shop , I will take them to the vintage shop.
