I see some have mentioned chapped hands. A friend discovered this cream years ago and it is truly miracle cream. I’m not sure if it’s an age or climate change thing but the relief is almost instant. The favorite of nursing homes also. DO NOT get the one marked unscented. Just small amount rubbed in is all it takes. Might need to repeat as it does wash off. When rubbed in it does not have a greasy feel. Hope this helps.
Hey, I’ll have to check that out! I get eczema on some of my fingers, particularly in the winter. Seems like when I ride the reins really irritate it. So far Aquaphor’s been working well, but I might have to try this.
Thank you. My skin has been so dry and that bout of radiation has made it worse. I think I’ll have to give this a try.
Thank you. Ordering now.
Thank you for the kind recommendation! I’ll seek it out.
(Signed, she of the chapped thumbs )
So, for some aberrant reason, 1 have developed eyelid eczema. Really bad itching of the eyelid margins with skin crusts & irritation. I’ve had it for about 8 months! Been to my ophthalmologist multiple times and a dermatology PA twice (what a waste!). I’m waiting for allergy/patch testing appointments. No one really knows what to do! Have to be careful to avoid getting certain meds in my eyes. I’m wondering if this might be a helpful to use as an emollient. I’ve tried almost everything else including steroids and calcineurin inhibitors (Elidil & tacrolimus). I’m frustrated at this point.
Thanks.
I’m so sorry @Bmpdvm, what a bummer. I imagine you have probably tried antihistamines, but those plus anti inflammatory meds help bring down the eczema in my hands. The second I feel a bit of a rash coming on I take an antihistamine.
@Bmpdvm Sorry to hear that you’re going through this, and totally understand your frustration. Hopefully soon, you’ll get needed relief from the ezema.
@Bmpdvm I’m very sorry to hear about your suffering. It must be so hard to endure.
Until you’ve had an allergy/patch test, may I recommend that you avoid scented products as much as possible. I suggest this from my own experience, because I developed a contact allergy to limonene and linalool out of the blue. The dermatologist who did my test said these allergies are fairly common, and often appear later in life. Both compounds are found in many essential oils, especially citrus oils and lavender respectively, and are widely used in skin products, perfumes, etc. I had to dump half the products in my bathroom!
So the patch testing, when you get it, will tell you if this is the case for you also. In the meantime it might be best to exercise care with scented products (including creams and lotions) until you’ve had your test and can be confident that fragrance compounds won’t irritate your condition further.
Sage advice @chamekke . However, I need to clarify. I know most scented product these days seem to be trying to mask the smell of the walking dead. The scented cream only has a very mid scent to it and it is having positive effects on the elderly in nursing homes.
The one recommended does not state “scented”. The unscented does state “unscented”.
Thank you for clarifying @StevesTrail !
Sorry to hear about your problem. What did ophthalmologist say? I suppose you are doing lots of eye drops and warm compresses. I have also been having allergy problems…I think. Anytime I get a cold, it turns into weeks of stuffed sinuses, I don’t know what to do…maybe I should do the allergy patch thing too. Right now…I have no voice…hard cheering for the Packers.
Yes, I’m sorry too to hear a out your eye problem. Eczema is difficult.
Don’t know if it means anything but, in my twenties and thirties my eczema was terrible. Long story short -diagnosed with Graves Disease, (hyperthyroidism), I did the radioactive iodine treatment after trying to fix naturally which did not work. Then becoming hypo, started on thyroid hormone replacement and to my surprise, my eczema quickly disappeared completely not to return for over 30 years now. It was a miracle. Not sure thyroid in piticlar is the answer as my heart was stressed due to the hyperness of thyroid as well. I’ve thought for a long time now, eczema is a symptom of some other stress in the body.
We used this first for my grandson with eczema and now many of us love it for everyday moisturizer. I like to put it on wet after shower. It’s Wonderful.
Edit- the Eveno is not to bad on sensitive eyes although,
I use cold pressed organic jojoba oil near eyes -the only thing I’ve found that will not burn my eyes.
Uh oh Colts and Bears fans in this fam
You know, I’ve wondered the same thing. I was diagnosed with Graves Disease when I was 40, and I’d had it on and off (undiagnosed )for 10 years. Mine finally went nuts, and I had to have it radiated. Graves Disease is an autoimmune disorder, and I wonder if that’s maybe why I get a little bit of eczema now and then.
Ahahaha. Go Pack Go. I used to be a Colts fan…but that was shorted lived. Son got injured.
I forgot about your son, I think he played for them??
Thanks so much to everyone for your thoughts…lots if good advise. It’s amazing how many of you have had experience with eczema! I am taking antihistamines and have switched to “unscented” laundry products, hyopallergic shampoo, soaps, etc. Wish I could get allergy tested sooner (hope it’s not my dog!)
@chamekke…thanks so much for all your suggestions…totally makes sense! @singing I will try the cold pressed organic jojoba oil. I’ve found a lot of good emollients, but so hard to keep them out of my eyes since the real intense itching is along the lash line! Most if them irritate my eyes. I actually used cold Crisco at someone’s suggestion and it felt so good. I’ll order the jojoba oil today…is there a brand you like.
In the grand scheme of things this is pretty minor, but it’s so annoying and affects my lifestyle.
Thanks again everyone!
It will go bad so I don’t order too much at a time.
