In my intro post I mentioned that I had inherited some pieces and thought I might share them with you all. They are nothing spectacular, but are special to me.
The large turquoise ring and chunky turquoise nugget earrings from my grandmother. I think the earrings are unique due to the use of sterling on the post and what I’m guessing is brass to hold the nugget.
The pink shell ring and earrings belonged to my mom. I inherited quite a few pairs of earrings from her, but these I wear frequently.
I think I probably paid too much for this dragonfly cuff (I often wonder if the turquoise is real), but it caught my eye at a street market and I couldn’t leave without it.
EDITED to add: I found the business card of the guy I bought this bracelet from. It was Andy Marion. He had a booth at a street market in Tucson.
The slave bracelet was my introduction to sleeping beauty turquoise. It’s signed sterling and HBY.
Nice collection! If you have a turquoise problem, you are in the right place
I love the big ring. To me the turquoise in your dragonfly cuff looks real; it reminds me of some I’ve seen from Chinese mines - really cool cuff. I think the variety of turquoise colors in your Verdy Jake cuff is beautiful.
@Ziacat thank you! I love the big ring, too. When it first came to me I had to wrap the band so it fit. Now, 14 or so years later, my hands grew to fit it, lol.
@BlytheEcho Very nice collection of turquoise jewelry. Your dragonfly cuff stands out to me - it’s wonderful! This hallmark info is from Hougart’s 3rd edition book of NA/SW Silver Hallmarks. Just sayin’, the hallmark for Andy Marion looks like a match to your cuff’s hallmark. You may want to research Andy Marion’s other work to see if there are similarities.
I hear you on that. I love wearing rings on my first finger, but had to buy new ones (darn it all ), because my older ones don’t always work there anymore.
By the way, I really think the only turquoise problem you have is that you need a bigger cabinet to hold more
I did a quick search on eBay for pieces by him (with hallmarks). I’d say you’re correct as the edges of the bracelet are “folded” and every other piece with that hallmark have the same edge.
I forgot about that, and that mine does remind me of Chinese turquoise. Maybe see if the artist is on Facebook or Instagram and ask him if he’s used Blackjack?
I believe the Otteson Brothers own that mine, maybe you can contact them.
Very nice collection. I too love the cuffs, how could you not. I also like this necklace… Is it a later acquisition? turquoise looks a little like Sonoran Gold. pretty.
