Hello folks! I wanted to pick your brains about the following ring on behalf of a friend. He’s considering buying it for his mother, who is very fond of SW American Indian pieces. He likes the ring and thinks she’d like it, too, but the turquoise gave him pause as he hadn’t seen one with this colour (somewhat green-leaning) and black matrix before, and wondered if it was artificial. I think it’s genuine enough but have no idea what type of turquoise this might be (possibly Chinese turquoise?). Any opinion you have is most welcome.
Also, I’ve photographed the mark in case anyone is familiar with it. Alain on the art-amerindien site lists it as an unidentified mark (“CP 2?”), and my copy of Bille Hougart 4th edition doesn’t have any CP marks that look like this. If anyone recognizes it, or has access to Hougart’s 5th edition in the event it includes this mark, I would be most grateful for your input. (It seems to me that the CP here is lower-case “cp”, but I am not sure.)
Thank you in advance for any help you can kindly provide!
P.S. Pic #1 is best for focus, but the colour of the stone in pic #2 is closer to reality. Apologies for the quality of my photos.
Hi, my two cents worth is that it’s totally legit Chinese. I have one with the exact same colors and I had a Facebook friend who lives in China and sells rough Turquoise, who took time one night to tell me where all of mine came from. Let me see because I’m pretty sure I posted all of them on here and if so, I will add a link.
