New Year, new jewelry additions. I have one other pin by M. Silver that I posted here a while back. These are my very first purchases of Zuni Rainbow Man jewelry. The earrings (Hopi?) are unmarked. The ring looks like a feather design to me.
Beautiful stuff @Patina. I really like the Rainbow Man rings and the concho is lovely as well. Thank you for sharing!
Lovely pieces. You are getting a wonderful Hopi collection!
I have a ring by Marie Silver. Iām thinking Jason said at one point Marie worked for Perry Null - or maybe it was when the store was Tobe Turpens.
Oooh, aaah @Patina, You do have an amazing and extensive Hopi collection! Iāve been going through a Hopi phase the last couple yearsā¦itās great seeing the wonderful Hopi pieces everyone has shared.
I do love your Mitchell Sockyma earrings! Glad you remembered themš. I have a wonderful piece by Michellās older brother, Steven. They both do beautiful work.
Love the concho brooch too (you know I love a good concho), and your rainbow men
@Patina youāre killinā it on these recent additions. The Hopi Mitchell Sockyma earrings in particular are chefās kiss and Iām prepared to sneak them outta there.
Two new pieces from the winter holidays: Joe and Mary Ann Calabaza (Kewa) melon shell heishi necklace, with turquoise and coral bead detail and a single silver bead strung toward the end. About 27.5".
And Ric Charlie (Navajo) long silver earrings, with his unique surface treatment to add subtle color and texture. I wear them with the stepped edge facing out. Guess I shouldāve photoād them that way!
Wonderful, wonderful @chicfarmer! I do love Kewa heishi. Your melon sheāll pierce is quite lovely, especially with the coral, turquoise and silver accent beads. I havenāt seen a lot of melon shell pieces. I think Iāve posted mine before. itās much shorter than yours and feels so good on the neck.
Has anyone started a heishi thread? Such a great variety out there, it would be fun!
Thanks! Iām super happy with my Sockyma earrings. Your melon shell heishi necklace is a beauty. Iām fond of that length and the subtle use of colored stones. Less is more⦠Those earrings are wonderful! Iād be pairing them with a classic black dress or a gray turtleneck sweaterš.
I love that necklace. For the last couple years at the Eiteljorg Indian Art Market I kept saying I was going to get a multi-strand Kewa necklace, and then I would get distracted by other things. Maybe this year!
The earrings are really cool also. I just have such a hard time wearing anything on a wire since my right earlobe is slightly stretched. Ric Charlie has been at the Eiteljorg Market the last couple years. Loved looking at his stuff.
I
your multistrand necklace, which I recall from a prior post about Deanna Tenorio. Looks so elegant on that turtleneck! Yours definitely was an inspiration when I considered buying mine.
@Ziacat I hear you about earring comfort. These are very lightweight and pleasant! We met Ric C at Eiteljorg a couple years ago, when you and I met up. A kind, mega talented artist weāve admired for a long time.
@riobravo I love your new jewelry additions, especially the concho belt (and A+ on the gas station styling) and Jennifer Curtis ring.
Thanks for the tip on The Frybread Lounge; Iām going to Phoenix/Scottsdale soon and will try to check it out.
@Jemez2 loved hearing about your Christmas trip and seeing your new treasures! Iāve always wanted to visit Santa Fe and the pueblos over Christmas. Happy belated anniversary! And omg those little bears. I remember seeing some very similar at Taos Pueblo and almost buying one, possibly by the same artist. Congrats on the weight loss!
I remember you posting your lovely wedding pics before. Iām considering a trip to Jemez historic site when Iām in Santa Fe this summer and hadnāt put it together that thatās where your wedding pics were taken. Thereās some lovely hiking in that area so I might try to combine it with a hike or two.
Also, the first time I saw the Star Link train, I briefly considered the possibility of aliens as well.
Are you going to the Heard Museum market?
I am! So excited! Want to come meet me?
Oh I wish I could!! We are heading to CO and UT early April to visit my nephew, and hike when itās not so hot. Unfortunately Native American jewelry shopping isnāt as good in the Moab area, so we (I ) added Bluff to get in one good trading post.
Donāt forget to tell us all about your trip when youāre back - thatās a rule of the forum right?
I was looking at all your wonderful loot again. I had not looked closely at the pottery till now - gorgeous! I especially love the three foxes.
Newly purchased earrings.
The ones on the far right are well known to us. MM Rogers and Larry L Kaye.
The other two were part of a group of 5 and the only reason I purchased them was for the bottom earrings. They are called George Washington Sleeves. replicas of the cufflinks Washington woreā¦made in the 1920ās-30ās. I have found the cufflinks on line but not any earrings. The earrings on the left are cuteā¦Citrine and topaz. Marked GJ which I could not find in Hougarts book. Perhaps not NA.
I Purchased a lot labeled āsilver toneā and this was one of the items. Iām trying to find out who made it. Iāve searched for something similar and only came up with Rick McCumberā¦but I cannot find the hallmark. Does anyone know whose hallmark this might be? Much thanks.
