The cab on your ring is

Thanks so much @BlytheEcho

Thank you so much @here4turquoise  I pondered letting them size it down but when they said take the cab out, I couldn’t do it. They had just destroyed someone’s opal ring and she was so upset.

Brown Wolf spider…the only species that has the mother carry them on her back - about 2 weeks then they are ready to go off on their own.

We have quite the collection of wolf spiders in the basement since the cat died.

Ancient mortal enemies. If I had a cat, I don’t think I’d be too wild about having wolf spiders around. If a cat got bit, I’d be worried about the potential results with the smaller body weight. Sounds like a quick trip to the animal hospital!

Surprisingly wolf spiders are not known to be dangerous for cats. I’ve spent quite a bit of time looking into this, because my cat is always chasing spiders, occasionally eating the smaller ones, and it freaked me out. :joy: Generally a bite doesn’t cause an issue unless the cat has an allergy to them; same thing with a human. And if they eat them their stomach acids digest it quickly, and it doesn’t hurt them.

So @StevesTrail , maybe you need another kitty

Definitely need another cat. Unfortunately our border collie rescue is afraid of them (and practically most everything). We don’t know how she was abused but I would have liked ten minutes with the previous owner to discuss it. So we keep working with her. At least she is a happy dog now. She wouldn’t even walk when we first saw her. And Astro the hunter loved to eat spiders. Got bit on the lip several times but that never deterred him or affected him.

He is a little beat up but I can wash my hands and keep him on lol. Another save from the fire pit. He takes up alot of space on my finger which is another reason I saved him. There are a few scratches I just noticed on the back while I was taking pictures. NNIS HC maybe? Idk but it’s a neat little piece. Just wanted to share. Have blessed day all

He’s cute, a little kokopelli with antennas

I like those long rectangular rings. I believe that is a trader’s code not a hallmark on the back of your ring.

And I’m not 100% sure, but I suspect that’s possibly Navajo not Hopi since there’s no etching in the black, although that’s not always the case.

Thanks so much @Ziacat I honestly thought it was fake, because there was no etching until I saw the scratches and thought I’d share. Thanks so much for that insight. You know I love the larger pieces ::laughing: Much appreciated

This app has been giving me a tough time lately. I lost my whole post twice. Ugh.

A few more to share and bug you guys about  So I’m trying to figure out what the bottom three are. Some searches say Jasper, agate or petrified wood. I love them all and wish I had more fingers but it would definitely be cool to hear your thoughts on the bottom three.

the middle row are both petrified wood. the bottom one looks like a red jasper.

Thanks so much @Jemez2 I was hoping for petrified wood especially the one on the right. That’s good to know. Thanks so much again

Glad I read your comment before I posted. I was just about to write the exact same thing about those 3 rings.

Just back from NM, lots of everything good that we all love–and prime chile roasting season! Best of all were the fascinating, unplanned encounters with artists and dealers. To keep it from being a travelogue I’ll stick to the jewelry finds.

Almost immediately I found my must-have: Kenneth Aguilar and Angie Crespin (Kewa) 7-strand hand-rolled abalone heishi necklace, with lapis, spiny oyster, turquoise, and olive shell. About 29” long. It just glows with golden overtones and the craftsmanship is astounding.

Santa Fe goodies: First up, Ric Charlie (Navajo) cast bracelet with an incredible set stone–care to guess? :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: This piece is for the gent, who’s modeling it:

Then from the sublime to the…not ridiculous, but: Monty Claw (Navajo) petite cast silver naja pendant. The little Mickey gloves :star_struck:

Lastly, jewelry adjacent, a nearly free book from the Bureau of Indian Affairs in 1948, at the Hispanic Arts museum (I mean it was marked $.50 but they paid it for me since I had no coins.:grinning:) Of course we made a donation!

Oooooh, very nice haul! Is that jade in the bracelet? That necklace though! I would not had left that in NM either, and I very much like the Mickey Mouse naja! How cute is that!?
