Opal? I think not!

I bought this, well knowing it’s not opal, but what is it?

$240, 2oz, sterling.

Azurite/malachite?
Shattuckite?
Chrysocolla?
Plastic?
Glass?
Turquoise?

I’ll get the ball rolling here by casting my vote for Chrysocolla

I agree with mmrogers. Azurite and malachite.

I would also agree on this. I’m not very experienced with turquoise but own quite some azurite and malachite, in micro chrystal form and cut/polished. Wonderful semiprecious stones.

The A+M has a very matte look, no fire at all - typical I’d say. But it also has a partial “steel” metallic shine, too. Pyrite possibly, which can be silver or golden color.

I found sellers that ask like $25-50 per stone in higher quality but also different look (no metallic shine), size of my big one in the center, like here

The bracelet was $240 at 2oz, so it’s at the limit but still fair price. On the other hand I like it and it’s hard to get in Europe. Does it have Navajo style? I guess some of you experts can tell?

It’s a very nice bracelet, @gt75. The stampwork in particular looks Navajo. $240 seems like a fair price.

I really like your bracelet. Would it be possible to see natural light pics?

There was a short period of sun light, and I quickly started taking some cell phone photos.

I would like to add that I really, really love this piece of art.

Thank you for the extra pics. The cabs are eye catching.

We stick to azurite & malachite? I think so.

My chrysocolla vote was purely to entice opinions. I think azurite/malachite is correct too.

Maybe you are right.

Those are chrysocolla, and similar to mine too

Azurite, chrysocolla, and malachite are all minerals that are often found together in or near copper deposits:

  • Azurite

A deep blue copper carbonate mineral that forms translucent crystals. It’s also known as Chessylite or Mountain Blue. Azurite is highly prized and has many uses, including clarifying meditation and dreams, and stimulating clear thinking.

  • Chrysocolla

A hydrous copper silicate mineral that can vary in color from blue to brown to green. It’s a minor ore of copper and has a hardness of 2.5 to 7.0.

  • Malachite

A secondary copper mineral that is generally opaque and comes in a vivid bluish green to green color. It’s usually banded in two or more tones of green and may have a subtle sheen.

Azurite and malachite are often found together because azurite can weather into malachite over time. Azurite and chrysocolla can also form a mineral called Azurite Chrysocolla, which has a unique combination of Azurite blue and Chrysocolla green.

All three azurite, malachite and chrysocolla often appear together. Also from mines in Arizona. Basically they are copper silicate and copper carbonate hydroxide minerals.

Based on my memory, I was about to agree with

and after googling it again, I guess he’s right. All three.

I agree with the chrysocolla. But it’s hard to tell without actually having the piece in your hand. I have some pieces and it’s close. Reddit has a group that identifies rocks and gems. Give them a try!
