Quezalcoatl Taxco hallmark

Ideas on Taxco artisan? PBL, ABL, RBL? I love the quezacoatl image.

I don’t really know anything about Mexican jewelry, but this figure looks like things I would have seen on the ruins at Chichen Itza? We went there on our honeymoon ages ago and it was awesome.

Hello @Ziacat Looks to possibly be Aztec or even Toltec. Feathered Serpent God. The lettering does look to be a P in the beginning.

Hi Msanomaly. Toltec, which is pre-Aztec. Interesting idea. I will look into the history of Toltec culture. Thanks! I do think this image represents the feathered serpent, or Quetzacoatl.

If anyone here has a copy of Bille Hougart’s Little Book of Mexican Silver Trade and Hallmarks (or you can obtain a copy yourself), the answer may be in there.

I do have a copy of Hougart’s and didnt find the name of the artist with those initials/hallmark. It is hard to resign myself to not knowing but am pretty sure if hallmark is not in Hougart’s it won’t be somewhere else. I always hope someone else might know. And now Bille Hougart is gone…
