Yeah, there is that. And I bet the hotels are expensive at that time. I just need my nephew in ABQ to get a larger apartment, then we can actually stay with him. But then there’s still parking …

My sister used to live near the Indy 500 racetrack, and people would always ask her if she went to the race. She was like, “no, that’s when you LEAVE Indy.”

The hotels ARE expensive for Market. Major mark up. Also, you have to book most of them a year in advance.

I found quite a few reasonable priced rooms in Albuquerque for next weekend, it’s only an hour away, but still thinking about temps & parking.

I know it wasn’t Market time, but we were in ABQ a couple years ago around July 4th, and the rooms were really reasonable (stayed several places and all were great). Except when our plane flight got canceled and we had to stay another night. Then they jacked the rooms way up by the airport…

Yeah, reserving that far ahead would be hard for us. GM has a weird schedule for how my hubby has to ask off for days off. A year in advance would be really difficult. Maybe someday when he retires!

I don’t mind going on Reggie’s Instagram site not only to look at his beautiful pieces but to enjoy the music. He has good taste.

@Ziacat, really like your style, great cuff! Really goes with the buckle. Must be nice to wear jeans in the summer. Hard to do here in the valley of the sun. You can, but swelter a little more because of it.

Thank you! That may have been partially why I was drawn to it; I had my mom’s buckle in the back of my mind.

So true about your weather. I’ve visited quite a few times in July, since my best friend lives in Phoenix. But it can get pretty hot and muggy here in IN in the summer. However, I coach at an ice rink, so my work uniform mostly consists of jeans, ski pants, and a down coat (or two LOL). So that’s the main reason I was wearing a pair of jeans in the summer  Funny thing though, often when I talk to the Navajos that are exhibiting at the Eiteljorg Art Market in Indianapolis, they always tell me how hot it is; I’m sure it’s the humidity that’s getting to them.

@Ziacat, I think you are right about what the Navajo say when they go there. It’s not the heat, it’s the humidity as the old saying goes. And up north in AZ it is hot, but not as hot as down here in the Sonoran Desert. I grew up in IA, so know all about that mid-western (or in your case mid-eastern) humidity. Of course, it’s the monsoon season now so we get pretty humid for here on top of 105 - 120 degrees (we just had the hottest July on record, 31 straight days over 110). Must be cold in that ice rink…2 down coats? Take care.

No, no, IN is still the Midwest  if not geographically, then mentally

Any of you that make to the Santa Fe Indian market, please post a pic of two so I can live vicariously through you

We are going this Saturday.
We already told our friend Rodney Coriz that we are coming, so there’s no backing out now!
I will take some pics!

I’m here in NM and loving it! Market hasn’t started yet, but there’s still lots of shopping and sightseeing to be had. The antique show was last weekend.

So beautiful! We love Taos Pueblo. Is that Nambe falls? We’ve been to Jemez falls, but not Nambe yet. I so want to be in NM!! And the food, the food …

Have a blast and shop for all of us

So all this talk of the Indian Market made me pull out our bag of Santa Fe red chile powder, and make a red sauce; not as good as what I would find Santa Fe, but it worked. Had it on eggs, tamales, and roast pork over the last couple days. One can always pretend they’re in Santa Fe

OMG. You folks out west have no idea about humidity. LOL!!! It’s been 92% humidity here all week and dropped to 50% due to a cold front…I did all my yardwork on Saturday. I love the West for many reasons but no humidity is a big one!

Yes, humidity is uggy. But heat 110+, yowza. We have visited AZ many times in the dead of summer, and it’s just insane. In the Midwest (and East) we broil, you desert dwellers bake.
