The Sandcast Thread

Yesterday I was watching a Turquoise Skies YouTube video about Reggie Mitchell’s jewelry. He described these fleur de lis type designs on these cuffs as “corn opening up.”

What a small world. I once met the lady who is doing the video with Reggie and son.
She’s a local writer, and former model.
She is regular contributor to New Mexico Magazine.

And those cuffs are to die for, of course.
Prices much lower than Indian Market!

That’s so interesting! The video I watched was a few years old, so prices have gone up I’m sure; plus they were giving some Christmas discounts. I feel like I got a really good price for my cuff a couple years ago when he was at the Eiteljorg Market.

So I also saw this ring on the video. I really wanted to find something like this last week that would fit, but couldn’t (it’s a bit blurry since I took it from the video). Oh well, then I wouldn’t have gotten the cuff. But this ring is just fabulous.

I can’t remember what mine the stone was from.

What a beautiful cuff! I’ll have Aaron Anderson on my list.

My Kevin Yazzie ring arrived! Woot! This is the ring I commissioned to go with the cuff he made. It was one of those pieces that I had nothing really to go with so, he graciously made this ring up for me, and had it made within 24 hours of my request. He’s really quick, and a pleasure to work with.

The stones are a Nevada variscite called Black Beauty.

Wow! Those are both absolutely amazing! And they look like they are quite heavy in a good way. I admit I kind of chuckled when you said you had nothing to go with the cuff. I would wear that with everything

The stones are beautiful, so unusual.

Thanks @Ziacat ! Yes, both are a good weight. It was just that the variscite didn’t match any of my other turquoise, and most of my NA jewelry (like 99%) has some kind of turquoise in it. I don’t have a whole lot of silver with no stones. I’m working on that lol

This set is gorgeous! I love his star motifs. I have one of his star rings, and I wear it almost every day.

Thanks @Stracci I don’t blame you for wearing it everyday! These rings are actually surprisingly comfortable despite the raised stars! Is your ring pictured somewhere in this thread? I want to go see it!

@Phoenix7

I love how big and chunky it is!

It’s buried in a thread somewhere, but this is it:

Oh, I saw some like that floating around, and I loved that single shiney star with the raw tufa casting surrounding it. It does look very comfortable. Love it!

Wow!! That set’s a stunner. K Yazzie did you right by that ring ~ it’s a beautiful match to your cuff. I’m really fond of variscite, some of it is gorgeous. And I’m always here for jewelry with a star motif.

Thanks @Patina Yeah, he does great work :slightly_smiling_face: I have a big crush on variscite and its eccentricities with the swirls and movements. Have you collected any? I wonder if there’s a variscite thread here yet.

I have 4 rings with variscite stones. Silver Peak variscite, Colin Verde variscite (maybe 2), and I can’t recall the name of the last one.

oooh, love this set @Phoenix7! I am very drawn to heavy silver with star motifs for some reason. It’s great that he made it so quickly for you too! I’ll add him to my mental list of artists that friends have had good experiences with.
