These Boots Are Made for Dancin’
Beautiful stuff, Tom.
I especially love the velvet and weavings in each each artist’s works.
I’m a sucker for artwork containing Yei, whether it be jewelry, photography, paint, sculpture or woven in wool: it’s one subject matter I’m deeply drawn to. Thanks for sharing an artist I’d not heard of, Tom! ![]()
I thought of you when I found these, Aaron. Oh, and the last painting is titled, The Boys. I like that one. ![]()
It’s definitely an awesome painting. These gentleman must be waiting on their wives to finish trading her newest weaving at the post. ![]()
@TAH That’s a fabulous painting of Naiomi Glasses by Clarkson. My first time seeing it.
My husband and his 2 siblings are still going through their mother’s house ..going on over a year. She was a packrat. Today he brought home a couple of boxes which we usually take to Goodwill after I give it a quick look. It was full of notecards. I found a couple I really liked and thought I would share. By Lee Rommel. I’m NOT going to leave a ton of stuff for my kids to go through after I pass.
I hear you! After my in-laws passed, we had to deal with this. Father- in-law never threw anything away. He had 30 years of pay stubs, starting in 1958. Boxes and boxes of insurance paperwork, bank statements, etc. He was an amateur wildlife photographer, so we still have stacks and stacks of framed photos to deal with, in addition to file cabinets full of unframed photos.
@Stracci Oh, my, that’s a lot to deal with! You & @nanc9354 are making me want get rid of stuff & scale back to the bare minimum
.(Not applicable to jewelry
.)
@Patina Right! I regularly give stuff to the local animal shelter thrift store, trying to keep the clutter to a minimum. My husband and I both swore we wouldn’t become hoarders.
We actually had to make several fires in the BBQ pit to get rid of the paperwork. Their SS numbers and personal info were on a lot of it.
I sympathize, we are in the same boat! One daughter, only grandchild…will not dump all the family stuff on her. It is a job for sure. Good luck ![]()
And in relation to this Turquoise Artwork thread… lots of framed and unframed Native art, mostly prints, kachinas, pottery. It will take a couple years, I fear.
On the wall of the La Posada - his paintings were between each of the rooms. The Navajo lady is wearing some Navajo jewelry.
And ladies, I most definitely hear all of you. When my mom passed 11 years ago we had to clear out her house. She was not a hoarder by any means, but they had lived in the same house since 1948, so of course had a collected a lot. We found some wonderful treasures, but I also came away saying if anything new came into my house something else had to go. Now since my brother has passed away, his wife cannot bring herself to get rid of anything. And his basement is packed. I keep telling her I’ll help, but she won’t let me. I think it’s because she still hasn’t dealt with the fact that he’s gone. Sigh.
@Ziacat Are you at La Posada in Winslow or Santa Fe?
Winslow. We will also stay here again later this week. Not a whole lot to do in Winslow, but I made a point of staying at the hotel here.
My wife and I just recently became aware of La Posada in Winslow and it’s now on our “hit list” as a place to stay. If you and/or your husband like hamburgers, the best restaurant hamburger I have ever eaten is at Relic Road Brewing Company in Winslow. My son and I judge and compare all other hamburgers to this one. We’ve even tried to duplicate it at home. If hamburgers aren’t your thing, it’s still a great place to eat.
