Here is an idea from Daniel Zender. You would think the open shank would be a bother, but no.
@StevesTrail
Yes, I like this one very much!
I have seen similar designs with a notch kind of like this.
This style is great for a wide shank. I will definitely use this idea. Thanks Steve
The ring’s design sets off that Golden Hills turquoise beautifully. Your work is so clean, it’s an aspect of your craftsmanship that says quality. Looking forward to seeing your future projects!
Thanks @Patina !
I guess I’m a typical Virgo, always worried about the little details. But it helps me to try harder. Some of my old work was certifiably crappy. But I won’t show you any of that!
I am attracted to circular shapes and spirals. That concept shows up in my work over and over. I have some triangular turquoise cabs that I’m sure I’ll never use!
Here is something different, a sapphire cab.
I was inspired by Etruscan design, and I was playing with textures.
So pretty and unique! I’m not generally a huge fan of precious gemstones, maybe it’s more the style of the settings they are usually in, but this is lovely.
@Ziacat
Thanks Zia!
I absolutely adore sapphires, and own a handful of sapphire rings, but none are cabs.
So I decided I needed a cab sapphire.
I have a cab emerald I’ll be working on soon, too!
I’m filling up my Christmas vacation days with jewelry projects!
I do like sapphires; they are my birthstone after all
I think I like the cab better than what I usually see. And you must show us your emerald ring when it’s done, please!
Bring on the inspiration! I’m here for it. You’ve styled this ring beautifully. I love sapphires & prefer them set in the cooler metals. This cabachon works wonderfully well in this sterling setting.
Very cool with a lot of appeal @Stracci . All the elements fit well together.
Very pretty ring. I love the texture and the four dots accent the sapphire so nicely. How long have you been making jewelry. I’m impressed.
Thanks @Patina
I was gonna add more raindrops around the sapphire, but then I felt that they detracted from the texture on the face of the ring.
Sometimes less is more, right?
Thanks @StevesTrail
Sometimes I struggle with the details.
I’m cheap and I hate to waste silver, so I try to have a concrete idea before I get started.
Thank you @nanc9354
A lady from Zuni Pueblo taught me silversmithing in 2003, so over 20 years now.
It’s just a hobby and I don’t do it everyday or I’d be much better!
You make good use of the metal and sure don’t struggle with design .
Lovely ring @Stracci! Beautiful, spotless technique as usual
@mmrogers
Thanks, Mike!
Your opinion means a lot to me!
I love the stone🩷 Zuni is one of my favs , got lots of it !
Here’s a ring featuring an emerald cab.
I didn’t really have a plan for this one, I just made it up as I went.
Similar to the sapphire, I guess.
Lovely ring, Stracci. Nice tight classic composition.Sweet and classy!
