Turquoise jewelry I recently made

I spent my afternoon making this pendant.
It’s the Persian turquoise that I bought from the local mineral show in March.
Once again, it took me a while to decide how to set it, but a simple design won out in the end.

The color is most accurate in the third photo.

That is perfection @Stracci . Looks like islands in the sea.

Thank you @StevesTrail !
I really strive for neatness and symmetry… I guess it’s the Virgo in me, everything has to be as good as I can get it.

Beautiful <3 that was my Virgo dad as well!

It’s always a pleasure seeing your creations, @Stracci, and this pendant is no exception! Your attention to detail is incredible, and I’ve always enjoyed seeing your twisted wire borders, as they are continuous, without an abrupt beginning/end, and in my opinion, that speaks to your fine level of craftsmanship. :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks @Ravenscry ! I appreciate your nice comments.
The twist wire is a challenge to join, that’s for sure. I try to get it right, but sometimes it’s just not good enough. Even a hair’s width of variance annoys me. I just hope that when I wear a piece, no one notices!
I am my own worst critic.

Thank you @tepowell
Yes, we Virgos are weird about doing stuff “right”. My hubby gets annoyed because I always jump into his projects and try to take over. Haha!
Today I tried to tell him how to sharpen his chainsaw blade…

You’re doing your Virgo self proud! I think this may be my most favorite piece of handmade jewelry that you’ve shared. That beautiful Persian turquoise cab combined with your perfect setting is a chef’s kiss. It looks fabulous on you.

Thanks @Patina ! Chef’s kiss!
I like it too.
That Persian stone was so pretty. The vendor had two of them, slightly different shapes, and I bought them both.
The other will become a ring when I get around to it.

Beautiful, @Stracci! The stone looks like high grade Kingman and Morenci at the same time. It’s actually a bit uncanny.

Thanks Mike!
This vendor cuts his own stones and sold these to me as Persian. I bought stones from him before. Of course I can’t swear that they are, I was taking his word for it.
But they looked right with all that chunky pyrite, so I grabbed them.
Here are both stones that I bought. Do you think Persian origin is accurate?

Could well be. Have seen Persian with heavy pyrite, really lovely stuff, but never before with that beautiful bird’s eye matrix. Really gorgeous material, @Stracci.

Beautiful as always! I always say I prefer American turquoise, but I would make an exception for this!

Thanks @Ziacat !
Persian turquoise wasn’t on my radar when I found these stones, but I was wowed by the birdseye plus pyrite.
The guy had another smaller pear shaped stone, but I bought the two bigger ones. Kicking myself now.
I’m still not warming up to Chinese turquoise, but never say never.

I think a buckle I bought years ago might have Persian turquoise. Someday I’ll post it, and see what you all think. But the stones aren’t nearly as pretty as this one that you have in your pendant. Yes, I’m not really warming up to Chinese turquoise yet, but I have seen some beautiful cabs.

Today I finished the matching ring with the second Persian cab.

You guys are probably tired of seeing these adjustable hammered shanks, but I think they are cool and very fun to make!

Oooooooo! There you go again teasing the forum members. :+1:

Adjustable shanks got a bad rap due to cheap rings having them. They make a lot of sense as one gets older and knuckles swell the ring can still be worn without stone removal or resizing issues.

Thanks @StevesTrail !

Adjustable rings are the best thing since sliced bread.
Too bad all my gold rings have fixed shanks🙁.
