Birds, birds, and more birds

Thank you. What would I do without you and Orbit Orange? I noticed that my Roadrunner and Hummingbird are both done by someone in the Edaakie family. What a gifted family. I also went back to the Ebay site to Verify the name of the person who made the Hummer. While there I saw a Blue jay pendant as blue as blue could be.

Since we are discussing roadrunners, here is one I took a photo of not long ago. I wish you could see them in person! They are so cool. They are big, about 16-18" long.

She looks just like your pendant!

Wow, he’s so cool! That’s one bad bird. Thanks for posting the pics. I forgot I had this little roadrunner which I bought at the Hopi Cultural Center, but at the moment I can’t remember the artist.

Mosi photo bomb

I have an Edaakie family roadrunner too - Derrick and Nichelle. For the longest time, who knows why, i thought it was a cactus wren. Mine is bitty - about the size of a quarter. Such tiny inlay!

He’s a really cute roadrunner, lovely pin. He does have the upturned tail like a lot of wrens, and kinda the same colors.

I beg your pardon everyone. I just researched the Smithsonian site and I am wrong on everything. It is not an Eagle, but a falcon. It is not NA, made in Poland. Anyone know how I can delete this post ?

Contact @Jason or use the “flag” (report) link on the post. See the three dots at the bottom right of all posts, to the left of REPLY? They lead to other actions you can take, and one is to report–that is the function of the flag shape. Then it gives you options to describe what the problem is.

I like the bird. If you really want to delete it, you could repost it under the non native jewelry topic section. There’s an amber thread going on there.

Poland makes sense. That’s where my one amber piece is from.

I decided it would be best to delete it, since it was not NA.

That butterfly is absolutely charming! For a moment I thought it might be Japanese. It somewhat resembles the chō kamon or butterfly family crest. So lovely.

Thank you so much. It seemed very special to me when I first saw it and just wouldn’t let go. :slightly_smiling_face:

You’re right. The circles and the swirl are very similar.

So I’m going to add my favorite bird piece even though I’ve posted him before. It’s my Hopi pendant by Manuel Hoyungowa. I bought it pawn in Springdale, UT. There’s just something about it that drew me in.

I took a picture of the pendant on my mom’s older Zia pot, because the birds remind me of each other. Some of the articles I read said the birds on the Zia pottery are roadrunners, but the Zia potters themselves just call them the Zia bird. I believe the one on my pendant is a thunderbird, but he has what I call the “startled eyes” like those on the Zia bird.

That’s a good looking pendant, Zia. I’ve been admiring and reappreciating Hopi jewelry lately, so thanks for posting it. Also, your bottom photo should be in a magazine. Great lighting.

Thank you, I love Hopi jewelry also. So clean and sleek.
That’s funny about the pic, it’s the shelf the pot is on in our family room with just the lighting overhead

I love this one! Such a great bird design and nice clean overlay. The little fellow does look a little startled! And I’m with @TAH; you’re second photo is fantastic!

Great pendant.

Does your cat have startled eyes? is that why you are Ziacat?
