Really lovely, and colorful combo! Congrats on the new piece!
Our discussion today about the bitter cold weather many of us are experiencing made me think about the small frustrations of trying to figure out how to wear jewelry with all my bulky clothing. For everyday normal wear this time of year necklaces and belts are mostly out of the question for me, but I still wear cuffs and rings even though they’re hidden most of the time under my coat cuffs and mittens (even at work). A number of years ago for a couple seasons Eddie Bauer had a nice line of pullover fleeces with cool prints. I bought five different ones for work since I wear them nearly every day in the winter. They totally work with my jewelry.
Today with the above fleece I piled on a bit more - all of these rings and cuffs just because I could ![]()
Wondering if the rest of you wear your stuff much during the cold season.
I’m very fond of big earrings, long necklaces, and big rings too! I usually save bracelets and necklaces for short sleeves and less bulky shirts, unless i am wearing them over the shirt/under a collar.
I can usually get away with my usual full regalia. In winter, I dress in layers, and when the outdoor coats come off, all of the jewelry is visible. I used to only wear my NA stuff in Summer (swimming pool blue stones = Summer colors) but, I’ve figured out how to incorporate it into colder weather garb.
Love your jewelry choice there! I’d imagine a necklace might be difficult to choose for your fleece pullover though.
I love long earrings, but can’t wear them unless they’re lightweight. However I do have some really light long ones, but unfortunately I have to mostly hold off on those due to all these collars on my cold weather gear ![]()
Some of my necklaces still would look fine, but they don’t hang right when you have to pile them on top of a fleece. And then I have a very warm long down coat that I wear on top of it. In even slightly warmer weather the rink is better, and I don’t wear fleece as often under my coat, so I then can wear necklaces.
Yeah, fleece and necklaces don’t often get along lol
These days I’m wearing smaller earrings and rings so that I’m not getting my jewellery caught on hats, scarves, gloves, etc. Layering up for comfort is a lot easier if you’re not wearing necklaces. The occasional brooch on the outside of a coat is OK, but most of my winter gear is made of material that is best not pierced with pins, so generally I’m waiting for warmer weather there.
I wear a uniform to work now, after years of wearing my own clothes and jewelry… it is hell not being able to wear whatever I want. My boots, clothes and jewelry give me stink eye when I walk out the door not wearing them ![]()
Many many years ago when I worked as a psych nurse, I was very happy that the hospital I was at did not make me wear scrubs, and I was allowed to wear jewelry. Although we couldn’t wear dangly earrings that could get yanked out by unruly patients.
I don’t know where to reply when there are alot of replies so I apologize if im in the wrong spot. Here’s what I have on today.
I like your Golden Hills cuff and stones. That octopus cuff is very interesting!
Thank you very much! The golden hills is my new anniversary present and the octopus my kids picked it for me 3 christma’s ago. It hasn’t left my wrist since. They are handmade here in New Mexico. ![]()
That octopus is very cool! Thanks for sharing your combos!
Love this combo, however at 5’3” I always struggle a bit with long length necklaces.
(I’m 5’4” on a good day myself!
)
Didn’t you also have to worry about unruly doctors?
