A protestant cross does not have a crucifix. I don’t think all rosaries have to have one? Not sure on that.
@chamekke Catholic rosaries traditionally feature a crucifix.
@Patina, thank you, that’s what I thought.
There is such a thing as an Anglican rosary/prayer beads (and I think I’ve even heard of a Lutheran one) and I imagine those might typically feature crosses rather than crucifixes.
So I googled it, because I’m pretty sure I have seen a rosary without a crucifix, just not very often. I found this…
@chamekke, I think my mother-in-law had a rosary that reminded me of the one in question; I don’t think it had a crucifix, and it was silver. But I may be remembering wrong; I’ll have to ask my sister-in-law if she still has it.
@Ziacat, I’m sure you’re right! Now that you mention it, I remember seeing simple wooden rosaries with a plain cross at the end. Just Googled “rosary with plain cross” and of course there were lots of them.
Generalization is a hazardous thing ![]()
Although I do believe that the majority of Catholic rosaries have crucifixes as versus only a cross (as noted, it’s traditional). I would have had no idea except for my husband coming from a big Catholic family
My hubby was even named after his uncle who was a priest and a wonderful man.
