@AC
Yes, that’s the necklace!
Stunning!
@AC Thanks, that’s helpful. I can see more clearly that these chevron beads aren’t fluted. I’m not a bead person so am unfamiliar with some of the bead terms used in this thread.
Yes, that is the beautiful necklace I remember Thanks so much for sharing it again.
Hey Jeff, I’m diggin’ those cuffs. The one on your right wrist is spectacular. Seeing your Rainbow Man ring made me wonder, did you ever decide on a display for your Rainbow Man collection?
Oh my! Don’t they check for gold items before they throw them in the bags? congrats on some good deals.
They do now and for a while they were pricing them higher and selling them separately, just recently they would told to no longer mark silver or gold on the tags and price them lower like they would price fashion jewelry because not everyone knows jewelry and they want it to be fair. Since then I found a 14k gold bangle with diamonds and sapphire and a 10k 1 1/2ct diamond tennis bracelet for $17.99 each in the display case and quite a few piece of silver in bags and the occasional gold piece here and there
I did a search on Newspapers.com for Albert Kraisinger.
He was a highly respected and rather wealthy member of the community.
@TAH I made a post when I first got it!
I did get a wall mounted locking display box but have not pursued putting it together yet! I still have to get enough black velvet to cover the gray background!
That will look great! Looks like there will be plenty of room to add more. Looking forward to seeing it when finished.
Hey! I just stumbled upon your forum while trying to find out more about a rosary someone left behind. I found this today in Old Town La Quinta. Did anyone find out anything more about it?
What a fun mystery!
You probably already know that this is a one-decade pocket rosary, sometimes called a “tenner” rosary. A full rosary has 5 decades (groups of 10) so this smaller rosary allows you to do the same prayers with something you can discreetly tuck in your pocket.
To me the inscription on the back looks something like “A. Breisinger 1880”, but that is just a guess as the central letters are very rubbed. Plus the surname might start with an R."
The weird thing is that I feel like I’ve seen that inscription before, including the “1880”, but I can’t remember where. It’s driving me nuts! If I do figure it out, I’ll let you know.
Hi @chamekke Good to see ya! Hope all is well with you. Looks like a contemporary, handmade decade rosary with a very nice antique cross added. The 1st letter of the inscription looks like an “A” to me. The next capital letter looks like a “B”.
Good point about the contemporary construction, @Patina! I was too focused on the cross.
As for the latter, I think it’s a replica cross, not the real deal. I did a quick image search and found this example in brass. The design on the front is identical (it doesn’t show the back):
…which suggests the whole thing is modern.
I’ve seen websites and Etsy shops where someone has recast modern replica from antique crosses, and I suspect that’s what we have here.
Incidentally I think I saw this cross, or one like it, before on Reddit or someplace – again with the original poster asking whether anyone knew more about it. The “1880” inscription on the back feels incredibly familiar.
Edited to add: oh, for Pete’s sake. It was further up in this very thread!!
when something drives me nuts I ask to “stop the bus, I’m already there”
this is the thread VVV

Hi, No I never found out anything more about the cross. I originally started this thread with the same cross that I found thrifting. I still haven’t opened the prayer box because I’m afraid it’s a tooth or some weird in there but I do still have the cross and the necklace. I haven’t researched it anymore since a week or two after starting this thread. If you find anymore info, please let me know
@chamekke Excellent detective work! You nailed it. The cross on this decade rosary appears to be sterling silver and not the bronze one they sell. Gotta say, it looks like the real deal .
Not a thrifting find, but this was my father’s even more discreet pocket rosary from the 1940s.
And my aunt brought this lovely 2.5" long crucifix back from Italy in the 1950s made of ebony and sterling. Not really related to this thread, but it’s Lent, so why not.
That’s beautiful! My husband’s family is Catholic, and gave me a little silver crucifix from Italy, but yours with the ebony is amazing!
I’ve always liked the little rosary rings! Somewhere I have a “spinner” that looks like a ring anyone might wear – possibly the most discreet of all – it has 10 little bumps and a tiny tiny cross to mark one decade.
Incidentally the cross on the little rosary that TacoShuShu posted above is actually a cross, not a crucifix. I’m no expert on this, but don’t all rosaries normally feature crucifixes? I’ve been idly wondering whether it’s a replica of a German? Protestant? cross that got put onto a modern-day mini rosary
